Kingsley funeral will be Tuesday
Hattie Jane Kingsley, 103, formerly of rural Leon, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 5, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
This lifetime resident of Butler County was born Dec. 17, 1881, 12 miles southeast of Augusta on land homesteaded by her parents, Zeah and Frances Bunnell.
She married George W. Kingsley Aug. 27, 1902 in a ceremony at the Methodist church parsonage in Douglass. They lived on the family farm 70 years before moving to the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Facility in 1972. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1972.
Together, they raised five children on the family farm.
This homemaker leaves two daughters, Dorothy Rhoads of Wichita and Doris Kingsley of Augusta; two sons, Durwood Kingsley of Lyons and Doran Kingsley of Liberal, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, four step grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kingsley was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters, and one great-grandson.

FEBRUARY 4, 1985
Victor L. Wade dies at 59
Victor Lee Wade, 59, Burden, brother of Jack, Delbert and Verne Wade, all of Douglass, died Thursday at Wellington.
His funeral service was at 1 p.m. today at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Rev. Dan Ferguson officiated and burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association.
He was born Dec. 21, 1925 in Douglass to Perry and Nina Kunkle.
He married Joyce Denniston Nov. 24, 1967 in Ottawa. She survives.
He was a welder.
Other survivors include sons, William of Wichita, Victor Eugene of Burden, and John of Fort Hood, Texas; a stepson, Rick Cowden of Mulvane, and a sister, Margaret deJarrett of Pittsburg, Mo.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass was in charge of arrangements.

Joe VanArsdale dies at hospital
Joe VanArsdale, 76, Towanda, died Sunday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Albert Schuessler will officiate and burial will be in the Kechi (Kan.) Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 23, 1908 in Wichita to Joseph and Mary Fisher VanArsdale.
He married Jean Hanna Aug. 23, 1927 at Mulvane. She survives.
He owned and operated the Towanda Garage for more than 20 years and he also operated a pool hall there. He retired in 1968.
Other survivors include sons, Keith B. of Augusta, Richard W. of Andover and Donald E. of Edwardsville, Ill., Max L. of Concord, Calif., Jerry A. of Abilene; daughters, JoRetta Anderson of Orange Park, Fla., Karen McQueen of Wichita; brothers, John and Ollie, both of Macksville, Bernard of Towanda, Gerald of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 30 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Father dies in Neodesha
Everett Verne Seitz, 73, Neodesha, the father of Diana Lawson of Augusta, died Friday.
His funeral was held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Loran-Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha. Burial was in the Weakley Cemetery near New Albany.
Seitz was born in Oct. 27, 1911, in Petrolia, Kan., to Harland O. and Catherine Boerstler Seitz.
He was a retired carpenter. He was a Past Noble Grand with the Oddfellow Lodge 72 in Neodesha. He had lived in Neodesha since 1940 and was a volunteer fireman there for many years.
Other survivors are a daughter, Shirley McNulty of Gardner; brothers, Wilbur of Delta Junction, Alaska, James of Kansas City, Kan., Ray of Portland, Ore., John of St. Augustine, Fla., Lester of Neodesha; a sister, Alice Shue of Oswego; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Evelyn P. Davis died Saturday
Evelyn P. Davis, 32, Wichita, the daughter of Ellis and Charlene Ehrlich Sr. of Leon, died Saturday.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in Lakeview Gardens, Wichita. The Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home of Wichita has charge of arrangements.
Davis was born Oct. 3, 1952 in El Dorado to Ellis and Charlene Guy Ehrlich Sr. Both parents survive. She married Thomas A. Scott Dec. 31, 1984 in Wichita. He survives.
She was a high school teacher and belonged to the Kansas Teachers Association. She had lived in Wichita 12 years.
Other survivors are daughters, Elizabeth and Morgan Scott of Wichita; brothers, Ellis Ehrlich Jr., of Leon, Fred Davis of Wichita; sister, Nita Ehrlich of Leon.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
