H.A. Gruber Dies At 62
Herman Arthur Gruber, 62, Route 3, died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Brooks of the First United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in the Wichita Park Cemetery.
He was bom Sept. 5, 1919 in Litchfield, Ill., to Jacob and Frances Nance Gruber.
He married Rachel Wisecarver Aug. 27, 1942 in Hutchinson. She survives.
He was a contract painter and a Methodist. He served in the armed forces during World War II.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cleta Thaydene Ball of Englewood, Calif.; brothers, Harold Gruber of Mt. Jackson, Va., Carl Gruber of Coffeyville, Bobby Gruber of Utica, Ohio, and sisters, Alberta Johnson of Broken Arrow, Okla., Nettie Day of Rantoul, Ill., Betty Oilex of Newark, Ohio, Allene Boyles of Wichita, and Vivian Praither of New Albany, Ohio.
A foster son, Jimmy Richards, preceded him in death. Two brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.

Ex-Augusta Attorney Dies
Raymond A. Overpeck, 65, Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Augusta, died Sunday near Fort Collins.
His service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
He was bom in Emporia Jan. 14, 1917. His father Ray H. Overpeck, was a legislative representative for the Order of Railway Conductors in Kansas.
After earning a bachelor of arts degree at the College of Emporia, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was part of the Third Marine Division and took an active part in major landings at Iwa Jima, Guam and Bougainville. He was awarded the silver star, bronze star and Purple Heart.
After the war, he was named to head the state office of veteran affairs. By 1949 he had graduated from Washburn University with a law degree.
He was recalled to active service in the Korean War.
He left the service in 1955 as a lieutenant colonel. He joined a Wichita law firm.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Anderson of Prairie Village and Sallie Hunt of Rancho Verdes, Calif., and a sister, Emile Bell of Fort Collins.

Ruth Mannion Dies At Home
Ruth Lavalle Mannion, 65, 215 Columbia, died yesterday at her home.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. James Catholic Church. Father David Cushing will officiate and burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
She was bom Oct. 14, 1916 in Douglass to Charles and Georgeann Paisley Causey.
She married Harold Mannion July 24, 1945 in Augusta. He preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, John Charles Mannion, Kansas; a daughter, Mary T. Self, Andover; a brother, Jay Causey of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Nina Mayberry of Nevada, and four grandchildren.
