K.E. Mallicoat dies at 80
Kenneth Earl Mallicoat, 80, San Bernadino, Calif., brother of Happy Gates of Augusta, died Saturday.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Grove Colonial Mortuary in San Bernadino.
Other survivors include a daughter, Doris Taylor of Mississippi; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Monday, March 18, 1985 Father dies in Wichita

George G. Hemmen, 88, Wichita, father of Georgianne Fisher of Douglass, died Friday at a Haysville nursing home.
The rosary was Sunday and his funeral was at 11 a.m. today at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wichita. Rev. Edward Kern officiated and entombment was in the Resurrection Mausoleum in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund.
He was born June 13, 1896 in Belgium, Wis., to John and Catherine Weber Hemmen.
He married Theresa Lauer Nov. 23, 1921 in Flush, Kan. She survives.
He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include sons, Paul of Mayfield, Leon of Conway Springs; daughters, Mary K. Britt, Aretha Seiler, both of Wichita, Edee Mies Evans of Goddard, Mildred Seiler of Colwich; brothers, Victor, Joe, both of Wichita, Leo of Colwich, Father Alcuin of Atchison; sisters, Sister Gemma of Atchison, Martha Lauer of Schulte, Loretta Zeller of Wichita; 33 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.

Grace Dedrick rites Saturday
Grace Dedrick, 90, Edmond, Okla., sister of Hazel Guthrie of Leon, died March 13 in a Lawrence hospital.
Her funeral service was at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmond, Okla. Rev. John Westhof officiated and burial was in the Grace Lawn Cemetery there.
She was born July 25, 1894 in Bloomington Township in Butler County to Ira J. and Minnie Covert Gilliland.
She married Ed Dedrick in 1918. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was a member of the Edmond Presbyterian Church, Buliah Rebecca Lodge 94 and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ione Pasley of Lecompton; a son, Kenneth of Aurora, Colo.; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

Lena G. Gulick dies at hospital
Lena G. Gulick, 80, 620 Osage, died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral was at 9:30 a.m. today at the First Southern Baptist Church. Rev. George Goudie officiated. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. today in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Aline, Okla.
She was born June 30, 1904 in Cleo Springs, Okla., to John and Effie Bland Phillips.
She married John Gulick. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gulick was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta.
Survivors include a son, Stephen of Douglass; stepsons, Roscoe of Toronto, Raymond of Texas; daughter, Pauline Watkins of Douglass, stepdaughters, Alice Stuck of Aline, Lyda Gulick of Cleo Springs, Okla.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Napolean Cota dies at 77
Napolean B. Cota, 77, Valley Center, brother of Alberta Mendenhall of Augusta, died Monday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Graveside services will be at
10 a.m. Wednesday at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith Bible Baptist Church in Valley Center. Rev. Albert Schuessler will officiate.
Memorials have been established with the Wesley Medical Center Oncology Ward and Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
He was born March 11, 1908 in Anadarko, Okla., to Moses and Rose Clark Cota.
He was a retired Vulcan Chemical Co., maintenance supervisor.
Survivors also include daughters, Sonia Farthing of Valley Center, Sondra Woodward of Oklahoma City, Okla., Charlene Burnett of Reno, Nev., Verna Lynn Brock of Midwest City, Okla.; brother, John of Topeka; other sisters Cora Armstrong of Wichita, Louise Mason of Homestead, Fla., Anne Linnimon of Altus, Okla.;
11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Culbertson-Smith Mortury in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Sister dies in Cedar Vale
Bessie Ione Vansant, 73, Cedar Vale, sister of John Wheeler of Augusta, died Monday at a hospital.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Vale. Rev. Dan Roland will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass, Kan., cemetery.
She was born Jan. 2, 1912 east of Mulvane to Nelson and Nola Chitwood Wheeler.
She married Griffith A. Vansant Aug. 2, 1930 in Winfield. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1970.
Other survivors include a daughter, Alice Maze of Cedar Vale; sisters, Bertha Goodwin of Cedar Vale, Nina Webster of Dodge City, and Eula Middaugh of Wichita; another brother, Kenneth Wheeler of Andover; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
