Mother dies in El Dorado
Freda M. Doane, 55, El Dorado, mother of Leah Morgan of Augusta, died Tuesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Carlson Funeral Home there. Rev. Randy Gauger will officiate and burial will be in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Memorials should be made to the Myrrl Houck Scholarship Fund.
She was born Nov. 16, 1929 in El Dorado to Frank and Nellie B. Batchelor Lockard.
She married Donald Doane Feb. 22, 1949 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1977.
She was an office manager for Counter Trucking in El Dorado.
Survivors also include sons, Jim and Pat, both of El Dorado; daughter, Dena Clark of Plano, Texas; father, Frank Lockard of El Dorado; brothers, Leroy Lockard and Forrest Lockard, both of El Dorado; sisters, Frances Dickson of El Dorado and Joyce Randolph, Ripley, W.Va.; her mother-in-law,
Winifred Doane of El Dorado, and five grandchildren.

Jim Zehe dies in accident
Word has been received that Jim Zehe of Liberty, Mo., was killed in an automobile accident.
He was the son of Frances and Art Zehe of Augusta.

Winona Crowley funeral
Winona May Crowley, 79, 21 Angelina, a homemaker, died Thursday at Augusta Medical Complex.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Dunsford chapel and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.
She was born June 2, 1905 in Rosalia to Charles and Peal Larson Cook. She married John Richard Crowley Sept. 5, 1925 in Newton. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1978.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, the
Augusta chapter of Soroptimist International, Eastern Star, Twentieth Century Club and Augusta Medical Complex Auxiliary. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine. She also founded the Augusta Order of Rainbow Girls and organized and chartered the Haverhill Hustler 4-H Club.
She was well known in the community for her crafts and
crocheted dolls for the hospital’s gift shop.
Survivors include two sons, Bob of Leon and Buzz of Midland, Texas; a sister, Hazel Carter of Wichita; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 10 great-granchildren. One brother, Foreman Cook, preceded her in death.
A grandson, Brent Crowley, preceded her in death March 10.

Sister dies in Eureka
Chloe Hubbell, 93, Eureka, sister of Mildred Strode of Augusta, died Wednesday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Rev.
Dennis Lorenz will officiate and burial will be in the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church in Howard.
She was born Nov. 27, 1891 to Marion and Lydia Morgan Copeland in Severy. She married Henry F. Hubbell on Jan. 23, 1910 in Severy. He preceded her in death in 1962.
She was a member of the Howard First Baptist Church and of the American Legion Auxiliary in Howard.
Other survivors are a son, Marion of Eureka; sisters, Louise Grimes of Arkansas City and Beulah Ferguson of Council Grove; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sons, Leslie and Wilford, preceded her in death.
