William Bielby died Friday
William S. Bielby, 69, Winfield, father of Jeanette Nichols of Rock, died Friday at his home.
His funeral service was this afternoon at the Miles memorial chapel in Winfield. D.L. Harguess officiated and burial was in the Mulvane cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the Cowley County Hospice.
He was born April 2, 1916 in Santee, Calif., to George and Iva McMordie Grundman.
Harold L. and Iva Bielby raised him.
He married Jean Dunnell Dec. 30, 1939 in Wichita. She survives.
Bielby was a dental technician for 43 years and operated his own dental lab in Winfield for 26 years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1936 to 1939.
Other survivors include a son, William Dean of San Francisco, Calif.; another daughter, Linda Archer of Claremore, Okla.; six grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Alley of Douglass.

John Smith dies at 66
John Smith, 66, Enid, Okla., father of James Smith of Augusta, died Monday.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. yesterday at the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home at Enid. The graveside service was at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Okla.
He was a retired Groendyke Co. employee.
Other survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Louise Ake of Enid; brothers, Gene of Stillwater, Junior, Charlie, both of Texas; sisters, Wanda Brown, Bertha Brake, both of Stillwater, Rachael Fisher of Houston, Texas, and four grandchildren.

Sister dies at hospital
Sadie Mae Lawrence, 69, Wichita, sister of Marie Wakefield of Augusta, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Downing Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Clarence Lanier will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Burden.
A memorial has been established with the Lupus Chapter in Wichita.
She was born Oct. 7, 1915 in Cedarvale to Dennis and Gladys Meyers Hawkins.
She married Kenneth L. Lawrence. He survives.
She was an employee of Johnson’s L.P. Gas Co.
Other survivors include daughters, Lucille Dooley of Wichita, Lorene Bailey of Winfield; a brother, Ray Hawkins of Cedarvale; half brother, Max Thomason of Bentonville, Ark.; a half sister, Helen Emberton of Winfield; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

W.A. Hedrick dies at 77
Wilfred A. Hedrick, 77, St. Louis, Mo., brother of Milon Hedrick of Augusta, died this morning at St. Luke’s West Hospital in St. Louis.
His funeral will be Monday at the Third Baptist Church in St. Louis.
He owned a plumbing business. Hedrick was a Mason and a member of the Third Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his wife, Pearl; two daughters, Jan and Elissa and their families.
Darlene Beranek dies in Wichita
Theresa Darlene Beranek, 46, Wichita, mother of Danette Leis of Augusta, died Monday at her home.
The rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. The mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis, of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Hospice of Wichita Inc.
She was born Aug. 21, 1938 to Carl and Dora Wewe on their parents farm near Pretty Prairie.
She married Vern Beranek Sept. 30, 1961 at Mount Vernon. He survives.
She was a long distance operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. before she retired last year.
Survivors also include a son, Steven of Wichita; other daughters, Kendra and Tonya, both of the home; her parents, Carl S. and Dora Wewe; a brother, Carl Wewe Jr., all of Mount Vernon; her grandmother, Amelia Heckathorn of Wichita, and a grandchild.
Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Dewey dies at 74
Hazel G. Dewey, 74, Rose Hill, sister of Theodore Dewey of Augusta, died Tuesday at the Heritage Village Nursing Home in Rose Hill.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Rev. Ronald L. Starr will officiate and burial will be in the Yates Center Cemetery.
She was born May 24, 1910 in Idalia, Colo., to Charles and Helen Moore Dewey.
She managed a motel in California before she returned to the Wichita area in the early 1960s to work as a waitress.
