Lavina Michels dies in Wichita
Lavina Louise Michels, 58, 1201 Money, died yesterday at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 17, 1927 in Augusta to leonard and Hazel Stage Martindale.
She married John S. Michels Aug. 2, 1953 in Huntsville, Ark. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Steve Allen of El Dorado, Scot Bradley of Kansas City, John S. Jr., of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Lanette Butler of Augusta; a brother, Harry Martindale of Palmdale, Calif.; six grandchildren, and her parents, Leonard and Hazel Martindale of Augusta.

Virgil Wilson dies at 74
Virgil Wilson, 74, Leon, died Sunday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Jean Wilcox will officiate and burial will be in the Economy Cemetery in El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the Leon United Methodist Church.
He was born Jan. 25, 1911 near Leon to Robert and Carrie Morti Wilson.
He married Glee C. Martin Jan. 25, 1938 at Hugo, Okla. She survives.
He was a retired stockman. He retired in 1968 from his work at Boeing Military Aircraft in Wichita.
Wilson was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church and the American Quarter Horse Association.
He was a former football player at Wichita University and held the record for the longest punt return for many years.
Other survivors include a son, Gary of Pittsburg; a daughter, Patti Holmstrom of Houston, Texas; a brother, Robert Wilson of Ardmore, Okla., and nine grandchildren.

Doug Neufeld rites Wednesday
Funeral services for Douglas Neufeld, 22, Andover, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Andover United Methodist Church.
Neufeld died Saturday morning from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident in Chase County.
Rev. Gary Harms will officiate at the funeral and burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.
A memorial has been established at Andover High School.
Survivors include father and stepmother, R.L. and Lois Neufeld of Andover; mother and stepfather, Jim and Georgeann Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, David M. of Colorado Springs; sister, Deanna Patterson of Ohoka, New Zealand; stepsister, Judith Dole of Colorado Springs; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Neufeld of Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. George Long of Bella Vista, Ark., step-grandfather, Alvin Jantz of Moundridge.

Mother dies in Wichita
Barbara Ann Goetzinger, 45, Wichita, mother of Douglas Goetzinger of Augusta, died Friday at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service was at noon today at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Gary Harms of Andover officiated. A graveside service was at 2 p.m. in the Marion, Kan., cemetery.
She was born Aug. 1, 1939 in Kingman to Harold C. and Bernice Stenzel Lambert She married Ronald A. Goetzinger Oct. 18, 1959 in Scott City. He survives.
She was a medical records assistant.
Survivors also include sons, David and Denis, both of Wichita, Jeff, Clark and Shawn, all at home; mother, Bernice Lambert of Hesston; sister, Rebecca Creech of Portland, Ore., and three grandchildren.

James E. Tinkler
Word has been received here concerning the death of James E. Tinkler III, 34, of Hill City. He was killed in a Friday morning plane crash near WaKeeney.
In addition to his wife, Linda, and four children, he leaves the following Augusta-area relatives: Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tinkler, Mr. and Mrs. Mick Scholfield, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Wayne Miller.
Tinkler’s funeral service was this morning in Hill City and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery here late this afternoon.

Mildred Bacon
Mildred Bacon, wife of former Butler County 4-H agent Floyd Bacon, died recently in Boulder, Colo. According to friends here, the funeral will be Thursday morning in Jetmore, Kan.

Elmer Blue died Monday
Elmer J. Blue, San Pueblo, Calif., brother of Louida Harvey of Augusta, died there yesterday.
Funeral services are pending. He was a former Augusta and was a retired chief in the U.S. Navy.

Former resident dies in Missouri
Mabel French Doornbos, 78, of Forsyth, Mo., a former resident of Augusta and El Dorado, died April 1.
She grew up in Augusta and was graduated from the Augusta High School with the class of 1924.
She is survived by her husband, Carl of the home; four daughters, Dorothy Tull, Jonesboro, Ark.; Margaret Morley, Ava, Mo.; Dorris Martin, Renton, Wash.; and Janet Nicksic, Kent, Wash.; two sisters, Viola Jacoby of El Dorado and Eleanor Parks, Garland, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
