Loren Watts dies at AMGI
Loren E. Watts, 92, Douglass, father of Dean Watts of Augusta, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Old Mission Chapel Mausoleum in Wichita. Rev. Dan Ferguson of the Douglass United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
He was born Aug. 22, 1892 in Winfield as a son of Emmett and Jessie Watts.
He married the former Hattie Roll. She survives.
Other survivors include son Dean of Augusta, son Dale Watts of Douglass and son Eldon Watts of Wichita; a daughter, Ramona Rucker of Douglass, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorials to the Douglass United Methodist Church are suggested.
Chester Stigge dies at 64
Chester R. Stigge, 64, Ponca City, Okla., father of Jerry Stigge of Augusta, died Sunday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Ponca City.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Ponca City. Rev. Marvin Henschel and Rev. George Earhart will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park there.
A memorial has been established with the First Lutheran Church in Ponca City.
He was born July 18, 1920 in Barnes, Kan., to Alvin and Anna Rettke Stigge.
Stigge married Velma Drees Apri 23, 1944 in Dakin, Neb. She survives.
He was a welder.
Other survivors include sons, Jim of Ponca City, Al of Salt Lake City; brother, Noel of Fremont, Calif., and five grandchildren.
Ex-Augustan dies in Iowa
Ernest C. Prigel, 66, Sibley, Iowa, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday.
His funeral will be in Ashton, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
He was in business here during the late 1940s and the 1950s.
Survivors include his wife, Polly; a daughter, Carrol, a granddaughter, Lori, both of California; his mother, Bessie Prigel of Augusta, sister, Maxine Smith of Augusta, Regina Reed of Grandbury, Texas, and a brother. Walter of California.
Brother dies at Emporia
Earl Buffington, 69, Americus, brother of Minnie Owen of Augusta, died Monday at the Newman County Memorial Hospital in Emporia.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Americus (Kan.) cemetery. Rev. Robert Patrick will officiate.
He was born Nov. 22, 1915 in Dodd City, Mo., to Williard and Mollie Purdum Buffington.
He married Louise Sailor Jan. 8, 1945 in Emporia. She survives.
He was a realtor.
Other survivors include sons, Vernon of Arkansas City, David, Steven, both of
Americus, Larry of Wichita; daughters, Linda Schlup of Emporia, Sherry Butler of Orlando, Fla.,; brothers, Lloyd of Canada, Jack of Florida, and five grandchildren.

Paul Jackson rites Friday
Paul Jackson, 73, Augusta, died Wednesday at his home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Faith Baptist Church in Andover. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. and Rev. Bob McGuire will officiate and burial will be in the Andover Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 21, 1911 in Matheson, Colo., to William and Leta Huntley Jackson.
Jackson married Gladys Mae Johnson April 28, 1935 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and Andover High School custodian.
Other survivors include sons, Rev. John Jackson of Tahlequah, Okla., Rev. Wilfred Jackson of Andover; daughters, Betty McKay of Potwin, Mildred Busenitz of Munich, West Germany; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Evangelism Fellowship of Kansas, 526 1/2 N. Main, Newton, Kan., 67114.
Ranch manager dies in Wichita
L. Jeff Christian, 70, general manager of the Santa Laura Ranch in Douglass, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
No services are scheduled. A cremation is planned. Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita has charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 17, 1914, in Texas, the son of Alvah B. and Mary Erwin Christian. His mother survives. She lives in Lubbock, Texas.
Other survivors are his wife Kathryn of Douglass; daughter Diann Davis of Grant, Okla.; three brothers, C.E. Christian of Dallas, Averill Christian of Dallas and Duane Christian of Lubbock, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial has been established with the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International Scholarship Fund of Kingsville, Texas.
