Miller funeral Thursday
Clarence Calbert Miller, 74, 1227 Dearborn Street, died Sunday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. George Goudie of First Southern Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 4, 1910 in Allendale, Mo., to Charles E. and Bessie Pearl McVay Miller.
He married Helen L. Hodson Dec. 14, 1931 in Adel, Iowa. She survives.
He was a plumber here since 1957. He owned and operated Miller Plumbing and later worked for Applegate Electric & Plumbing Co., Inc.
This retired master plumber was given a honorary lifetime plumbing license earlier this year.
At that time, he recalled, “I never tried to get very big (in the plumbing business). I did plumbing work all over town and must have cleaned a million sewers.”
Miller was a member of the Southern Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Charles James Miller of Windsor, Conn.; daughters, Eleanor Fern Terry of Kansas City, Mo., Roberta Kay Cordova of El Paso, Texas, and Linda Jean Rossi of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; a brother, Claude N. Miller of Douglass; a sister, Evelyn D. Hodson of Mulvane; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Celia Evans dies
Celia Evans died April 30 in Independence, Kan.
Her death, according to her niece Laura Cox of Augusta, came just 20 days after she celebrated her 98th birthday.

Keith Cofield dies at home
Keith V. Cofield, 58, Leon died Sunday at his home.
His funeral was 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Tony Venturella officiated and burial was in the Leon cemetery.
He was born Sept. 11, 1926 in Cherokee, Okla., to P.C. and Ruth Lauby Cofield.
He married Claudine Kamp in Wichita Sept. 21, 1945. She survives.
He was a materials analyst for Boeing Aircraft before he retired last December because of ill health.
during World War II.
Other survivors include sons, Ron Cofield and Jerry Cofield, both of Leon; a daughter, Sharon Knight of Wichita; his mother, Ruth Cofield of Leon; a brother, Larry Cofield of Bailey, Colo.; a sister, Joyce Osborn of Rosston, Okla., and seven grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Edna Ralston dies in Texas
Edna Coleman Ralston, 74, San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Augusta, died May 28 at her home.
Her service was at 10 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. Rev. Louis Zbinden officiated and burial was in Mission Burial Park in San Antonio.
The family suggests memorials with a favorite charity.
She was born April 23, 1911 in Wichita to Charles Monroe and Fannie Levengood Coleman.
She married Gipson Wesley Ralston in Augusta. He survives.
Mrs. Ralston also leaves a son, Gipson W. Ralston Jr. of Houston.
Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio was in charge of arrangements.

Leland Smith dies at 69
Leland Eugene Smith, 69, Route 2, died yesterday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Gray will officiate and burial will be in the McCabe Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 13, 1915 in Douglass to Henry Swing and Mary Abigail Gibson Smith.
Smith married Eva Pearl Davis March 4, 1936 in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a former Boeing Military Aircraft Co. employee. He was a Methodist.
Other survivors include sons, Irvin (Gene) of Valley Center; William of Haysville, Terry of Augusta; a daughter, Mary Nixon of Leon; brothers, Howard of Augusta and Roy of Fredonia; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A son, Thomas Wayne; a daughter, Dorothy Pauline; four brothers; three sisters and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
