Joyce K. Minton dies on Saturday
Joyce K. Minton, 44, Lubbock, Texas, daughter of Ernest and Evelyn Jackson of Augusta, died Saturday.
Funeral services are pending.
Other survivors include her husband, James; daughters, Rene MacDonald of Kansas City, Kan., Kristy Casasanta of Lubbock, and Erin Frey of the home; a son, Brian of Lubbock; a sister, Francine Blunt of Andover, and a brother, Jim Jackson of Augusta.

Sister dies in Texas
Virginia McVay Fuller, sister of Delya Berner, Mary Wakefield, John and Bill McVay, all of Augusta, died Monday in San Antonio, Texas.,
There will be no service here.
Other survivors include her husband, Carl, and sons, Robert and Jerry, all of San Antonio.
Lawrence Carney dies at 69
Lawrence W. Carney, 69, 2209 Ohio, died Monday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born March 8, 1916 in Competition, Mo., to Phillip and Myrtle Wood Carney.
He married Evelyn L. Bird Jan. 21, 1947 in Newton. She preceded him in death in 1979.
He was a retired Mobil Oil Refinery worker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Caron Kofoid of Augusta; brothers, Wayne, Dean, and Gale, all of Lewis; sisters, June McClaren of Lewis, Fredia Smith of Burdett, Bessie Sibley of Wheaton and Fern Jones of Kinsley, and a grandson, Shannon Dale Kofoid of Augusta.

Brother dies in Junction City
Charles C. “Bud” Hailey Sr., 68, Burdick, brother of William Hailey of Augusta, died Tuesday at a nursing home in Junction City.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Burdick. Rev. Vern Bowers officiated and burial was in the Methodist Cemetery in Burdick.
He was born Sept. 23, 1916 in Hymer to William and Mary Elizabeth Ramsey Hailey.
Other survivors include sons, Charles Jr. of Rogers, Ark., Robert of Abilene, Howard of Herington; daughters, Nancy Hanson of Burdick, Mary Wendt of Herington, Roberta of Hartford; brothers, Alvin of Elmdale, Austin , of Council Grove; sisters, Margaret McPhail of Larned, Dottie Olson of Lawrence, Jane Miller of Lost Springs, Grace Smith of Herington, Ruth Sollner of Burdick and 11 grandchildren.

Lenora Forbes dies at home
Lenora Forbes, 81, Douglass, died Tuesday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. Bill Scott will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association.
She was born Oct. 3, 1903 in Salt Lake, Ky., to Gideon and Alma Belle Thompson Cline.
She married Raymond Charles Forbes Jan. 10, 1923 in Winfield. He preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1968.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Cline, Betty Marie Forbes and JoAnn Fulk, all of Douglass; a brother, Alva Cline of Douglass; a sister, Fern Herndon of Hillsboro; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Wilson dies at 77
Robert H. Wilson, 77, Ardmore, Okla., formerly of Leon, died Saturday.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore.
He was employed at the Mobil Oil refinery here and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Cordelia; a stepson, Dennis Marsland of Warner Robins, Ga.; stepdaughters, Verle Groom of Ardmore, Esther Snyder of Brule, Neb.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The wife’s address is 411 F Street NE, Ardmore, Okla.
The Harvey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rites Saturday for Richard Gumm
Richard Gumm, 58, Douglass, died Friday at his home.
A graveside service was at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Fairview Cemetery in Augusta. Rev. David Meadows officiated.
He was born Aug. 6, 1927 in Ulysses to Homer D. and Hazel M. McGilliverary Gumm.
He married Betty Ferguson Aug. 29, 1946 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives.
He was a retired trucker. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Other survivors include sons, Clifford Vance Gumm and Stephen Richard Gumm, both of Wichita, Kenneth Bradley Gumm of Winfield; a daughter, Shelly Keimig of Douglass; a sister, Audrey Crosset of El Paso, Texas, and seven grandchildren.
The Dunsford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
