Sister dies at KCK hospital
Beulah Marie Brown, 75, Edwardsville, sister of Mrs. William (Frances) Churchman of Augusta, died Wednesday at the Providence-St. Margaret’s hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
Her funeral service will be 10 o’clock tomorrow morning in the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home chapel at Bonner Springs. Dr. John Walker will officiate.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Rev. Robert Park will officiate.
Mrs. Brown was teacher-counselor in a number of Kansas schools before she joined the State Department of Education in 1965. She retired from a counseling position at Bonner Springs High School in 1975.
She was born June 23, 1910 in Council Grove as a daughter of Frank H. and Mae Eliza Totten Manning.
She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1931 with a degree in social sciences. She later earned her master’s in guidance and counseling from Kansas State College at Pittsburg.
She also studied at Northwestern University, Columbia University, Denver University, Kansas State University, and Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia.
Her first teaching job was at Dunlap where she served as principal of two elementary schools.
She later taught at White City, Netawaka, Frankfort, Emporia, Lawrence and Bonner Springs. Her subjects were music, biology, English, and social science.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Bonner Springs First Christian Church, Alpha Xi Zeta,
Delta Kappa Gamma, American School Counselors’ Association, and American Personnel and Guidance Association. In 1975, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Bonner Springs Business and Professional Women organization. She was a past president of the Kansas School Counselors’ Association and the Bonner Springs chapter of the National Education Association.
In addition to the sister here, she leaves a son, Frank A. Brown of Lenexa and one granddaughter.
Memorials to the Bonner Springs First Christian Church or Cancer Action Inc. of Kansas City, Kan., have been suggested.
Willard Ohmart dies in Wichita
Willard Ohmart, 63, Wichita, died yesterday at the Medicalodge of Wichita.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Augusta to William and Lillie May Reipe Ohmart.
He married Iva Louise Hopper Dec. 20, 1984 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a deliverman for Bell’s Meat Co.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include a son, David Ohmart of Wichita; a stepson, Wesley Dean Houser of Radcliff, Ky.; stepdaughters, Rose Mary Eveland, Barbara Henderson, Bonnie Mae Davenport, all of Wichita, and Donna Harris of Mulvane; sisters, Ethel of Cottonwood Falls, Cleo Hall and Lillian Stinnett of Augusta; a foster sister, Mary Phillips of Augusta, and five step grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fern Scott dies at 86
L. Fern Scott, 86, Douglass, died Friday at a Winfield Hospital.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Douglass Christian Church. Rev. Jim Lorenson officiated and burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Christian Church.
She was born Oct. 17, 1989 in Missouri to Nathan and Laura Lundy Brooks.
She married Claire Scott Oct. 4, 1941. He preceded her in death.
She was a retired school teacher.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mary Sutton and Josephine Scott, both of Douglass.
Rites Tuesday for M.O. Stores
Maurice Orville Stores, 77, Wichita, died Thursday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison will officiate and burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 3, 1908 in Coats to William M. and Alta Zelma Auner Stores.
He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include stepsons, Vess Martin of Augusta and
