Zelda Miller dies
Zelda Ione Miller, 80, 1113 Dearborn, died Saturday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. today at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Brooks officiated and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church, the Augusta City Library and the American Red Cross.
She was born Aug. 27, 1905 in Cleveland, Okla., to Jessie R. and Minerva P. Gobel Gruver.
She married Harold S. Miller Oct. 16, 1937 in Augusta. He preceded her in death.
She was a retired elementary school librarian.
She was a Methodist and a member of P.E.O., Retired Teachers Association, Round Table, Book Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Craig G. of Wichita; a daughter, Susan Kepfield of Larned; brothers, Frank Gruver of Guymon, Okla., Clark Gruver of Tulsa, Okla., and David Gruver of Overlad Park; a sister, May Gruver of Augusta, and three grandchildren.

Jack Martin of Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Goldie Twilley of Wichita; a half brother, Elmer Norris of Wichita; a half sister, Cynthia Hunsucker of Portfalls, Idaho, and a step-granddaughter.

Brother buried at Clay Center
Conrad W. Hurst, 82, brother of Augustan Jap Hurst, died Saturday, Sept. 21, at the St. John’s nursing home in Hays.
A graveside service was held yesterday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.
He was born April 3, 1903 in Oklahoma to Robert and Mattie Hurst.
Hurst was a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer in Hays for many years and was a member of the Hays Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.
He married the former Elsie Werner in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1976.
In addition to the brother here, he leaves three daughters, Jean Gregwire of Iola, Frances Murray of Mayfield, Fla., and Carolyn Duncan of Iowa City, Iowa, and 11 grandchildren.
The Neill-Schwensen Funeral Home of Clay Center was in charge of arrangements.

Jo Callaway dies at 85
Jo L. Callaway, 85, El Dorado, grandfather of Dave Callaway of Callaway-Douglass & Associates Inc. of Augusta, died Sunday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. today at St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. Monsignor Charles Walsh officiated and burial was in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born July 9, 1900 in Monett, Mo., to George and Nora Lenhart Callaway.
He married Florence M. Lyons Nov. 22, 1920 in Leavenworth. She survives.
He worked from 1960 to 1965 as manager of the El Bowl Bowling Alley in El Dorado.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the army during World War I.
Other survivors include sons, William R. Callaway of El Dorado and Joseph L. Callaway of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Dorothy Pederson of El Dorado; a brother, Cordon Lenhart of Aurora, Mo.; a sister, Elizabeth French of Lebanon, Mo.,; 11 other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Butler County Community College Endowment Association.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado was in charge of arrangements.
