Service today for Glenn Cox
Glenn D. Cox, 75, 1602 Highland Drive, died Thursday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. today at the Friends Church in Rose Hill. Rev. Gary D. Cox officiated.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born Oct. 3, 1909 in rural Rose Hill to Theron T. and Stella Davis Cox.
He married Anna Estelle Gallagher. She survives.
He was a retired Beech Aircraft processing crew chief.
Other survivors include sons, Donald D. of Wichita, the Rev. Gary D. of Halstead; stepson, Robert B. Chisman of Wichita; sisters, Wilma Showalter of Rose Hill, Waunita Eldridge of El Cajon, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Webb Mortuary in Clearwater was in charge of arrangements.
Daughter dies, service held
Ruth Ann Swyers, 42, Wichita, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hulse of Augusta, died Friday at her home.
A graveside service was at 2 p.m. today at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Richard Axmann officiated.
She was born May 10, 1943 in El Dorado to Earl and Mary Catharine Simkins Hulse.
She married William Howard Swyers Aug. 3, 1963 in Independence. They later divorced.
She was a medical transcriptionist at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Besides her parents, other survivors include a son, Michael Todd of Independence; daughters, Debra Jill and Shelley Ann, both of Independence; brothers, Richard Hulse of Augusta and William Hulse of Douglass; sisters, Jane Fryback of Edmond, Okla., and Patricia Isom of Kansas City, Mo.
The Dunsford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ex-Augustan dies at 52 in El Dorado
Billie Joanne Wagner, 52, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist
Church in El Dorado. Rev. Randy Gauger will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Memorials have been established with the Bradford Memorial Library and the First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
She was born Sept. 7, 1933 in Augusta to William and Sarah Elliott Fudge.
She was an accountant with IPS in El Dorado until ill health forced her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion. She served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include sisters, Jean Plummer and Patti Mulvaney, both of El Dorado.
The family will receive friends at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado between 6 and 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Ex-Augustan dies at 85
Elsie King, 85, Wenatchee, Wash., aunt of Gilbert “Sandy” Cline of Augusta, died Sunday.
Her funeral was today in Wenatchee.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church here.
She and her husband, Benjamin, lived here for a number of years.
Surviving are six daughters including Flora McCalla of Augusta; two sons; nephews Ebert Robison of Augusta and Boyd Webster of Bartlesville, Okla., and a niece, Donna Chappell of rural Augusta.

Frank Strait dies at AMCI
Frank S. Strait, 87, 1152 Euclid, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Axmann will officiate and burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church.
He was born Nov. 12, 1897 in Bethany, Mo., to Warren and Ella M. Asher Strait.
He married Mary Neihardt April 11, 1925 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a retired Mobil Oil Refinery worker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include sons, Frank Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., Alva of Blackstone, Va.; a daugher, Geneva Peterson of Wichita; a sister, Thelma Call of Ava, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Alma O. Martin, 72, Wichita, mother of Phyllis Cox of Augusta, died Monday at St. Frances Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Wichita. Rev. Les Andrews will officiate and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born Aug. 12, 1913 in Kingman to Chester A. and Hattie Belcher Bowyer.
She married Lawrence A. “Bud” Martin April 10, 1938 in Pretty Prairie. He survives.
Survivors also include daughters, Janiece Cotton and Linda Kennedy, both of Wichita; brothers, Gene Bowyer of Pretty Prairie, Bob Bowyer of Kingman, Leland Bowyer of Lubbock, Texas; sisters, Vera Roberts of Leoti, Lorene Conwell of Nevada, Mo., Lame Corneilsen of Lakewood, Colo. Darlene Staats of Brighton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
