Leland Prier dies at 65
Leland Marion Prier, 65,
Route 4, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev.
Richard Axmann will officiate.
There will be a service at 10 a.m. Friday at the New Life Free Will Baptist Church in Licking, Mo. Rev. Max Courtney and Rev. Rick Dablemont of Licking will officiate. Burial will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery in Licking.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born Jan. 20, 1920 in Prescott, Mo., to John H. and Elizabeth Keeney Prier.
He married Virginia Watson June 3, 1942 in Houston, Mo. She survives.
He was a retired vice president of Seerobee Oil Co.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include brothers, Rancy of St. Louis, Gene of Jennings, Mo., Cecil of Carthage, Mo., and sisters, Ellen Crooks of Licking, Effie Grooms and Marie Thomas, both of St. Louis, Juanita Adams of St. James, Mo.
Two brothers, Henry and Frank, and two sisters, Fern Scott and Stella Stimpson, preceded him in death.

E.C. Clippinger dies in Wichita
Emerson Clarence Clippinger, 82, 1226 Helen, died yesterday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in
Wichita.
A graveside service will be at
2 p.m. Thursday in the Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl
Allison will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born July 12, 1903 in Augusta to George and Isabell McIntire Clippinger.
He married Ruby Lackey March 11, 1923 in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a lifetime resident of Augusta and a member of the Christian Church. He was a retired grocery store owner and a former city councilman. He was active in the volunteer fire department.
Other survivors include a daughter, Wanda Mayfield of Grove, Okla.; grandchildren, Jerry Mayfield, Kerry Mayfield and Deeny Cary, all of Augusta, and five great-grandchildren.

Charles Haynes rites Thursday
Charles A. Haynes, 80, a retired farmer/rancher from rural Douglass, died Monday at the Douglass Nursing Center.
The Douglass Masonic Lodge will conduct a graveside service at the Douglass Cemetery 11 a.m. tomorrow.
Haynes was born Oct. 18, 1905 at Rose Hill as a son of Asa and Lula Ash Haynes.
He married the former Bonnie Learned June 8, 1927 in a ceremony at Wichita. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald Haynes of Memphis, Tenn., Jerry Haynes of Rock; a daughter, Pat King of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Neva Jones of Paradise, Calif., and Marjorie Rorison of Oregon; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the Kansas Lung Association are suggested.
The Hilyard-Smith Mortuary at Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Infant girl dies, graveside rites
Cherese Michelle Lange, Conway Springs, great-granddaughter of Clara Criser of Augusta, died Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Conway Springs Cemetery. Rev. John Schmitt will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Edgerton Center of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Edgerton Unit for the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.
She was born Oct. 18, 1985 to Jeff and Patti Warner Lange.
Other survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Lange of rural Conway Springs; a sister, Tiffani Suzanne at home; grandparents, Bob and Doris Warner of Viola and Harold and Elaine Lange of Conway Springs; and a great-grandfather, Albert Warner of Longton.

Sophia Bornholdt dies at 89
Sophia Blanche Bornholdt, 89, Augusta, died yesterday at Walnut Valley Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church kitchen fund here.
She was born Dec. 6, 1895 in Augusta to Jacob L. and Maggie Treadway Beck.
She married Henry H. Bornholdt June 14, 1913. He preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1962.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a charter member of the Sorosis Club.
Survivors include sons, Jerry and John, both of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughters, Doris M. Burress of Augusta and Mary M. Shelton of Hutchinson; a sister, Margaret M. Nelson of Carson City, Nev.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
