Mother dies at 71 in Medicine Lodge
Margorie McGuire, 71, Medicine Lodge, mother of Linda Hibles of Augusta, died Thursday near her home there.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. today at the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge. Rev. Bill Park officiated and burial was in the Isabel, Kan. cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born April 23, 1914 near Medicine Lodge to Willard and Ada Durmond Watkins.
She married William McGuire Jan. 29, 1943. He survives.
She taught in one-room country schools and later taught 12 years in South Lawn School near Liberal.
Other survivors include a son, James of Clovis, N.M.; brothers, Homer Watkins of Lakin and Wilbur Watkins of Wichita, and four grandchildren.
The Forsythe Funeral Home in Medicine Lodge was in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Ozbun dies at 87
Gladys Adelia Ozbun, 87, Augusta, died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend. Burial will be in the Great Bend Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Augusta Medical Complex Long-Term Care Facility.
She was born Aug. 12, 1898 in Windom to Delta O. and Cora DeFord Smith.
She married Charles E. Ozbun Dec. 24, 1923. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Charles E. Jr. of Wichita, Jerald of Hayden, Colo., Larry of Craig, Colo.; daughters, Joann Mauro of Denver, Colo. Joyce O’Neal of Augusta, Judy Willis of Carson City, Nev.; brothers, Clair and Bernard Smith, sisters, Mrs. George Hunsinger, Berdette Downing, all of Little River; 28 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Five children preceded her in death.

Ex-Augustan dies at 90 in Manhattan
Sidney D. Jackson, 90, Manhattan, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday at a Topeka hospital.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Manhattan. Pastor Milton Olson will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka. Pastor Timothy P. Carey will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Christ Lutheran Church of Augusta
She was born Aug. 14, 1895 in Eureka to Lucis and Lucy DaVier DaVier.
She was a credit manager manager for 37 years for the CR Calvert Store in Augusta and a former member of the Christ Lutheran Church here.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Kruh of Manhattan and two grandchildren.
The Cowan-Edwards-Yorgensen Funeral Home in Manhattan is in charge of arrangements.

Chester Moffatt died Friday
Chester B. Moffatt, 71, Alva, Okla., father of Kerry Moffatt of Augusta, died Friday.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. today at the Wharton Funeral Chapel in Alva.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Other survivors include sons, Tony of Gread Bend, Mike, Kevin, both of Alva, Barry of Savannah, Mo.; daughters, Shirley Hayes of Round Rock, Texas, Kay Watson of Hutchinson; sister, Jenny Crain of Cleveland, Ohio and four grandchildren.

E.J. Pelzel dies at home
Edgar Joseph Pelzel, 74, Augusta, died Friday at his home.
The Rosary was at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Fisher Funeral Home in Kiowa. The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Kiowa. Father Rory O’Neill officiated and burial was in the Riverview
Cemetery in Kiowa.
He was born May 6, 1911 in Catharine to Alfred and Catherine Scmidt Pelzel.
He married Virginia M. Gehlen Feb. 15, 1974 in Augusta. She survives.
He was a farmer.
Other survivors include a stepson, John Haynes at home; brothers, Al of Sharon, Bill of Medicine Lodge; sisters, Kathryn Wilson, Elfreda Hall, both of Wichita.

John Landon dies at 80 in Wichita
John H. Landon, 80, Wichita, father of Melba Bunyard of Leon, died Monday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Keith Mace will officiate and burial will be in the Branson Cemetery in rural Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born Feb. 3, 1905 in Kansas to Edson and Sarah Kinsey Landon.
He married Marcella Cox. She survives.
He was a retired Boeing Military Aircraft Co. employee.
Other survivors include daughters, Zella Gibson of Valley Center, Norma Yergler of Garden Grove, Calif., Vera Hull of Jenks, Okla., Martha Landon of Sunnymead, Calif., Alma Lessley of Derby, Loretta Wiesner of Westminister, Calif.; a brother, Everett of Wichita; sisters, Dora McVey and Luella Reeder of Wichita, Minnie Lindblade of McPherson; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
