‘Buck’ Martin
George C. “Buck” Martin, 80, Sylvia, father of Kip Martin of Augusta, died Saturday at a farm in Reno County.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sylvia Cemetery. Rev. David Trott and Brother Otis Webb will officiate.
He was born Aug. 7, 1905 in Reno County to Geroge Garfield and Anna Jeanette Sealey Martin.
He married Helen Skinner Aug. 19, 1962. She survives.
He was a owner of Martin Motor Co., in Sylvia. He had had owned the business for 50 years. He also farmed.
Other survivors include a daughter, Beverly Miller of Sylvia; brothers, John P. of Hutchinson, William D. of Sylvia; sisters, Mabel Forrest of Inyokern, Calif., Mildred Harris of Colorado Springs, Colo., Helen Cox of Hutchinson, Lorena Wray of South Hutchinson, Lucille Martin of Wichita, Josephine Tonn of Haven; four granddaughters, and three step-grandsons.
A memorial has been established with Sylvia Methodist Church.
The Peacock-Milton Funeral Home in Stafford is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Fling dies at 68
Paul Eugene Fling, 68, Leon, died Sunday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Rev. Keith Mace will officiate and burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born April 13, 1917 in Peru to Daniel and Cora Brooks Fling.
He married Violet Edwards Oct. 21, 1939 in Wellington. She survives.
He was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a ranger for 15 years at the K.T. Weideman Girl Scout Ranch as a ranger.
Other survivors include a sister, Lucille Schroeder of Wichita.
The Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Rites Wednesday for Dan Lasiter
Danny Normal Lasiter, 28, Wichita, brother Patricia Swick of Augusta, died Sunday in a hunting accident in Sedgwick County.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita. Pastor Allan Jones will officiate and burial will be in the Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
He was born Dec. 1, 1956 in Ulysses to Bryan and Margaret Lyon Lasiter.
He married Angalea Seifert June 5, 1981 in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Danny N. Jr., of the home; a daughter, Tabitha of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Lasiter of Wichita; brothers, Terry of Pipe Creek, Texas, Ricky, Mike, William, all of Wichita; another sister, Margaret Dickson of Wichita.

Dorothy Luce dies at 54
Dorothy Jean Luce, 54, Towanda, sister of Kenneth Parry of Augusta and daughter of Nellie Parry of Douglass, died yesterday at Susan B. Allen Memorial in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Rev. Dan Fergusen will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born June 17, 1931 in Douglass to Ray E. and Nellie Lanier Parry.
She married Charles Walter Luce April 19, 1950 in El Dorado. He survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Twila Jean Keen of El Dorado; sisters, Donna Marie Smith of Towanda and Marjorie Helms of Denver, Colo., and three grandchildren.

J. Kippenberger died Monday at 84
Joseph Kippenberger, 84, Abilene, father of Stanley Kippenberger of Augusta, died Monday.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. Rev. John Moeder officiated and burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery there.
A memorial has been established with the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
He was a retired farmer.
He was born Dec. 2, 1900 in Thomas, Okla., to Henry and Bertha Oberst.
He married Sarah Cleary. She preceded him in death.
Other survivors include sons, Gordon of Abilene, Mike of Tequesta, Fla.; daughters, Patsy Clayton of Tulsa, Okla., Betty Krenger of Abilene; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Donald Shafer dies in Wichita
Donald George Shafer, 80, Andover, died today at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
A private service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be in the Andover, Kan. Cemetery.
He was born April 22, 1905 in Fall City, Neb.
He married Kathryn L. Volz April 7, 1932 in Rockport, Mo. She survives.
He was a retired welder. He was a member of the Bethel Church in Fall City. He has lived in the Andover area for the last four years.
Other survivors include a son, Willard Shafer of Towanda; a daughter Donna Price of Wichita; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
