‘Barney’ Thomas funeral today
Blaine “Barney” Thomas, 76, Sedgwick, father of Bill Thomas of Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 2, at a Newton hospital.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. this morning Monday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Charles Bronson officiated and burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
A memorial has been established with the Sedgwick Little League baseball program.
He was born Aug. 22, 1909 near Sedgwick to Joseph V. and Daisy M. Lewis.
He married Naomi Behymer Sept. 15, 1928 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a retired Kaw Transportation Co. employee.
Other survivors include sons, Jack, Jerry, both of Newton, Allen of Sedgwick; daughters, Mabel Stamback of Sedgwick, Beverly Hilberling of Tulsa, Okla., Judy Spencer, Lorna Preston, both of Newton; brother, Donald of Wichita; sisters, Alice Erdwein of Wichita, Josephine Vanscoder of Newton; 23 grand-children and 19 great-grandchildren.

JOHN R. BAUGHER ...dies at hospital
John R. Baugher funeral Wednesday
John Raybourn Baugher, 70, 1515 Clubhouse Drive, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Brooks will officiate and burial will be in the Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado, Ill.
A memorial has been established with AMCI.
He was born Nov. 22, 1915 in Eldorado to Edward L. and Effie Mae Smith Baugher.
He was a construction superintendent bricklayer. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Eldorado. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of the Bricklayers, Masons, Plasterers Union, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge 730 in Eldorado.
Survivors include sons, Ronald of Augusta and Alan of Kansas, Okla.; brothers, Charles and Ed Sr., both of Eldorado, and Rev. James of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Nellie Schlau of Collinsville, Ill.; five grandchildren, David and Rick Baugher, Cristy Baugher, all of Augusta, Annette Powers of Wichita, Eddie Baugher of Joplin, Mo., and a great-grandchild, Sara Baugher of Wichita.

Grandson dies in New Mexico
Raymond E. McClure, 30, Gillette, Wyo., grandson of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. McClure of Leon, died Saturday in Hobbs, N.M.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Leon, Kan., cemetery. Rev. Jim Spon will officiate.
He was born Oct. 11, 1955 in El Dorado to A.G. and Lucille Shannon McClure.
He married Irene Pennington in March of 1981. She survives.
He was an oilfield worker at Bull Rogers Drilling Co., in New Mexico.
Other survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.G. McClure of El Dorado; brothers, Ronald D. of Dermott, Texas and Darryl G. of El Dorado; a sister, Krista Crespin of El Dorado, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bonnel of Lynnwood, Wash.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Olin E. Hurlbut service Thursday
Olin Edwin Hurlbut, 84, 1515 Clubhouse Drive, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
He was born Nov. 6, 1901 in Lucas to Henry A. and Mary L. Cullens Hurlbut.
He married Elaine Pickenpaugh in July of 1925. She survives.
Hurlbut married Ethel Howard July 23, 1938 in Russell. She survives.
He was a retired county maintenance department employee in Russell and a farmer.
Other survivors include a stepson, Randall Howard and his wife, Betty of Augusta; a daughter, Leona; a sister, Zella Steinle of Lucas; seven grandchildren; two step granddaughters, and nine great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Madge, and a sister preceded him in death.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
