Frost funeral tomorrow
Ruth Annetta Frost, 73, 1409 State Street, died Sunday, Feb. 16, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel, 201 E. Fifth Street. Rev. Robert Brooks will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Augusta Public Library.
She was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Butler County to Fred E. and Cornelia Annette Martin Frost.
Ms. Frost was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Augusta’s First United Methodist Church.
She spent 42 years in the teaching profession — 30 in the local school system teaching sixth grade at the junior high in the 1950s and later sixth grade and fourth grade at Lincoln School here. She taught at rural Augusta schools prior to her city career.
According to longtime teaching friend Erma Skaer of rural Augusta, Frost enjoyed nature and the beauty of the countryside. “She was a wonderful friend to all who were in need,” Skaer said.
A brother, Jim Frost of Seattle, Wash., and a sister-in-law, Maxine Frost of Augusta, survive.

Ray G. Renfro dies at 82
Ray G. Renfro, 82, Douglass, died Sunday at his home.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Bill Buggeln will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

He married Edna Shackelford July 3, 1924 in Chase County. She preceded him in death Dec. 28, 1984.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include sons, Charles of Augusta, John of Hesston, Arthur, Irvin, both of Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Alberta Evans of Rose Hill; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Retired farmer Ray G. Renfro, 82, Douglass, died Sunday, Feb. 16, at his home.
His funeral service was this morning at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Bill Buggeln officiated and burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Senior Citizens Center.
He was born July 28, 1903 in Douglass to Charles and Lula McDonald Renfro.

Gennaro Vitale funeral today
A funeral service for Gennaro Anthony “Jerry” Vitale, 57, 602 Santa Fe, was held this afternoon at St. James Catholic Church. Burial was in the Douglass cemetery.
A rosary was recited at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home Monday evening for Vitale who died late last week at Augusta Medical Complex.
He was born Oct. 21, 1928 in Bronx, N.Y.
Vitale was a self-employed cabinet maker. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and served with the Green Berets in Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Kaye of the home; daughters Leona White, Leora Farnese and Doris Vitale, all of Augusta; a son, John Vitale and a daughter, Denise, both of New Jersey.
Vitale also leaves three brothers, Frank, Anthony, and Peter; five sisters, Louise Genovese, Angelina Cagna, Rose Gezzi, Nancy Aqualina and Susan Jenson; and his parents, Pietro Vitale and Delores Casetta Vitale.

El Dorado woman dies after fire
An El Dorado woman died Sunday from injuries suffered in a fire at her home.
Alice M. Wynn, 603 Alleghany, died at the St. Francis Burn Center from second degree burns over most of her body.
The fire on Friday was apparently cause by a discarded cigarette.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. today at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Jim Spon officiated. Burial will be Wednesday in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Port Arthur, Texas.
She was a retired school teacher.
Survivors include a son, George of Port Arthur; brother, Elmer Chalfant of Leon; a sister, Eva Chalfant of El Dorado; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
