Ethel Sheets dies in Wichita
Ethel Sheets, 92, Arcadia, mother of Loraine E. Sheets of Douglass, died Friday at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Arcadia Christian Church. Rev. Leon Weece officiated and burial will be in the Old Arcadia Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 19, 1893 in Arcadia to William R. and and Elizabith Smith Buchanan.
She married Burnie Sheets June 25, 1913 in Arcadia. He preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1968.
Other survivors include a brother, Elza Buchanan of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Jay Abraham dies at 74
Richard Jay Abraham, 74, Leon, died Sunday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Rev. Keith Mace will officiate and burial will be in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the Leon United Methodist Church.
He was born May 4, 1911 in Butler County to Richard R. and Cora Belle Metcalf Abraham.
He married Annabelle Ades Aug. 9, 1933 in Rosalia. She survives.
He was a retired self-employed water well driller.
Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Ayers of Burns; brothers, Maple of Rose Hill, Clair of Eureka, Fred of Fresno, Calif., and Allen of Laramie, Wyo.; sisters, Joy Unruh of Bentonville, Ark., Mary Ellen Felter of Amarillo, Texas and Daisy Dutton of Wichita; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Helena Bunn dies at 79
Helena Bunn, 79, a resident of the Long Term Care Facility at the Augusta Medical Complex, died there Thursday.
Her funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett. Father Dennis Pickert and Father Tony Blaufuss officiated and burial was in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Garnett.
She was born Sept. 26, 1906 in Scipio to Frank and Mary Hermreck Setter.
She married Russell Bunn in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1953.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Deustch of Wichita; sisters, Bert Terry of Wichita and Teresa Scherman of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett was in charge of arrangements.

Anna M. Long dies in Oklahoma
Anna M. Long, 81, Hennessey, Okla., sister of Alberta Brawner and Troy Keys, both of Augusta, died Thursday in Enid, Okla.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita. Frank Westwood will officiate and burial will be in the Wichita Park Cemetery.
She was born April 27, 1904 in Harrison, Ark., to Franklyn and Darthula Hawkins Keys.
She married Ralph Long in 1937 in Enid. He preceded her in death in 1971.
She lived most of her life in Wichita.
Other survivors include a son, Roy Ewing of Atlanta; daughters, Norma Hickey of Hennessey, Okla., Lorene Brown of Wichita; brothers, Earton Keys of Byron, Calif., John Keys of Stillwater, Okla.; sisters, Marie Swartz of Stillwater and Zella Coffman of Yates Center; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Hervey A. Powers dies in Missouri
Hervey Ambrose Powers, 87, Neosho, Mo., a former employee of the Mobil Oil refinery here, died Wednesday at a hospital in Neosho.
His funeral service will be 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in the chapel of the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho with burial in the Banner Cemetery there.
Powers was born Oct. 26, 1898 in the Tipton Ford area of Newton County, Mo.
He worked 23 years at the local refinery before moving to McDonald County, Mo., to work as a farmer and welder. He later moved to Neosho and operated a blacksmith and welding shop there until his retirement in 1976.
On Sept. 6, 1959, he married the former Charlotte Shuey. She survives.
Powers also leaves four stepsons: Max Barnes of Webb City, Mo., Lester Shuey of Neosho, Rev. Lawrence Shuey of Cassville, Mo., and Allen Shuey of Highland, Calif.; two brothers, Roy Powers of Baton Rouge, La., and Chester Powers of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Nell Lytton of Beaumont, Texas; 15 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.

Lola G. Haynes dies at AMCI
Lola Gertrude Haynes, 83, 1122 Osage, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 14, 1902 in Good Hope, Mo., to John and Ida Friend Sawyer.
She married George W. Haynes May 30, 1920 in St. Joseph, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was the former co-owner of Haynes Grocery Store and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Augusta; brother Rex Sawyer of Ava, Mo.; sister, Faye McKnight of Ava; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
