Lila J. Stout dies at 81
Lila Jane Stout, 81, Douglass, died Sunday at the Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Douglass United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the Ninnescah Cemetery at Udall.
An hour of visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Douglass. Memorials to the church have been suggested.
She was born July 14, 1904 at Udall as a daughter of Frank and Frances Jones Adams.
She married Howard Henry Stout on Feb. 6, 1922. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Ardell June Gimple of Douglass, Mrs. Faye Mildred Stephens of Kincaid, and Mrs. Wanda Ruth Biehler of Brighton, Colo.; three sisters, Iva Lanier of Derby, Fern Dean of Avon, Ill., and Marie Hall of Atlanta, Kan.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Lillian Drake dies at 84
Lillian B. Drake, 84, Derby, sister of Ethel Ripper of Augusta, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Olson’s Mortuary in Canton.
She was born Oct. 17, 1902 at Canton to Alexander and Mary Jane Hart Schulz.
She married Clement Fannon. He preceded her in death.
She married Paul Drake. He preceded her in death.
Other survivors include sons, William Fannon of Udall, Keith Fannon of Salt Lake City, Utah, Louis Fannon of Wichita; another sister, Mable Johnson of Canton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ira O’Bleness died at 77
Ira B. O’Bleness, 77, Mount Hope, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday at the Mount Hope Nursing Center.
A memorial Service was at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. George Gardner officiated. There was a cremation.
Memorials have been established with the Mount Hope, Kan., Nursing Center and Mount Hope Ambulance Service.
He was born July 1, 1908 in Kinsley to Andrew and Maude Yoe O’Bleness.
He married Myrtle Josephine Hagar Nov. 20, 1921 in Kinsley. She survives.
He was a retired Boeing Military Airplane Co. tool and die maker.
Other survivors include sons, Robert J. of Wichita, Donald R. of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughters, Jo Vierthaler of Mount Hope, Louise Jensen of Erda, Utah, Kay Hartsock of Estacada, Ore., Lynne Wagenbach of Houston, Texas; brothers, Ivan of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Alvin of Ephrata, Wash.; sister, Vida Eberhardt of Syracuse; 18 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

John Wheeler dies at AMCI
John James Wheeler, six-week old son of Roxie M. Wheeler, 1224 Henry, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Center.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 10, 1986 in Wichita.
Survivors include his mother, Roxie Wheeler, and a sister, Jessica LaFon Wheeler of the home.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Barker Sr. died March 5
Herbert Barker Sr., 90, Poteau, Okla, formerly of Douglass, died March 5.
His funeral was March 8 at the First Chirstian Church in Poteau.
He was born July 1, 1895 in rural Douglass and attended the Douglass schools.
He married Marie Goley.
He work in the movie industry in California before retiring and moving to Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Verna Sawyer dies at 85
Verna Sawyer, 85, Wichita, sister of Bernice Barker, of Augusta, died Monday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Baptist Church in Latham. Rev. Jim Sponon will officiate and burial will be in the Latham Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 23, 1900 to James Clyde and Elizabeth Hall Bing.
She married Herbert Sawyer June 28, 1922. He preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1981.
Other survivors include sisters, Myrtle Jacoby of Douglass, Margie Benson of Westlake, La., Elsie Wilson of Fredonia, Pauline Hoy of Cassoday and brothers, Raymond Bing and Herbert Bing, both of Latham, Ralph Bing of Wichita and Keith Bing of Sapulpa, Okla.
The Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of the service.
