Margaret Meiwes died Sunday at 86
Margaret A. Meiwes, 86, Iola, sister of Matilda Matsler of Augusta, died Sunday at a nursing home there.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. Father Francis Wasinger will officiate and burial will be in the Moran, Kan. cemetery.
She was born Dec. 5, 1899 in Garden Plaine to Bernard and Elizabeth Reitter Rausch.
She married Steve Meiwes Nov. 12, 1918. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1977.
Other survivors include sons, Henry of Piedmont, Okla., George of Kinkaid, Steve of Hereford, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth Reherman, Marie Sigl, both of Kingfisher, Okla., Bernita Bernsten of LaHarpe, Margaret Eddie of Central City, Neb.; brother, George Rausch of Conway Springs; sisters, Hilda Melcher of Mulvane, Sister M. Armella Rausch of Wichita, Elizabeth Nebchor of Derby; 47 grandchildren, and 63 great-grandchildren.

Earl Crapson rites Monday
Earl Crapson, 84, El Dorado, uncle of Marlin Clark of Augusta, died Friday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. yesterday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Rev. Jeff Blackman and Rev. Rick Harms officiated. Burial was in the Economy Cemetery near El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the Save the Children’s Fund.
He owned the Crapson Repair Service before he retired in 1965.
Other survivors include his sister, Hilda Clark of El Dorado.

Charles Evans dies in Parsons
Charles “Chuck” E. Evans, 57,
Fall River, father of Brenda Lee Moore and son of Delpha Evans of Augusta, died Monday at a hospital in Parsons.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia. Rev. Larry Mason will officiate and burial will be in the Weakley Cemetery, near New Albany.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born Sept. 26, 1928 in Wilmore to Frank Arthur and Delphia Ann Bailey Evans.
He married Carolyn Henderson Dec. 17, 1950 in Newkirk, Okla. She survives.
He was an employee of Vulcan Chemical Co. before he retired.
He served in the army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fredonia and master of Benedict Masonic Lodge 403 AF&AM. He was president of Oak Manor Estates near fall River.
Survivors include another daughter, Deana Faye Williams of Meriden; a brother, Ronald A. Evans of Kialua-Kona, Hawaii, and seven grandchildren.

Jerry Kaats dies at home
Jerry Kaats, 75, Douglass, died today at his home.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was born May 12, 1910 in Rock to Louis and Emma Hume Kaats.
Kaats married Anna Lee DeWees Nov. 21, 1938 in Alva, Okla. She survives.
He was a retired Butler County maintenance employee and oil field worker.
Other survivors include three nieces and a nephew.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
