Ora Mae Wise died Friday
Ora Mae Wise, 72, Belle Plaine, sister of Dorothy DeVoss of Augusta, died Friday at her sister’s home in Benton.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Rev. C.E. McDonald will officiate and burial will be in the Nennescah Cemetery in Udall.
She was born Oct. 6, 1913 in Sedgwick County to Ory Millard and Anna V. Berkshire Boyce.
She married Lester L. Wise Nov. 5, 1929 in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Other survivors include sons, Robert E. of Atlanta, Larry W. of California; daughter, Ora Yvonne Wilson of Wichita; brothers, Albert Boyce of Los Angeles, Calif., Millard Boyce of Benton, Lloyd Carl Boyce of Portland, Ore; sisters, Mary Dilts of Los Angeles, Jane Crawford of Benton, Viola Smith of Wichita; five grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Betty Jo Eaton rites tomorrow
Betty Jo Eaton, 58, El Dorado, died Friday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Bill Bullard will officiate and burial will be in the Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Nurses Assistance Scholarship in care of Butler County Community College in El Dorado.
She was born Nov. 5, 1927 in Drumright, Okla., to Joseph H. and Nannie Sproud Swisher.
She married Leroy Eaton Jan. 8, 1947 in Wichita. He survives.
Mrs. Eaton was an employee of the El Dorado Wal-Mart Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Towanda.
Other survivors include sons, Dennis, Joe and Kenneth, all of El Dorado; daughters, Nancy Riner and Elizabeth Vosler, both of Towanda, Linda Cooley of Hutchinson, L’Hassa Bogner and Belinda Eaton, both of Winfield; her father, Joseph H. Swisher of El Dorado, and 14 grandchildren.

Monday, August 4, 1986 Fred McClure dies at 96
Fred McClure, 95, Newton, brother of Ruth White of Augusta, died Thursday at his home.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Peterson Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Phil Chastain officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery there.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church in Newton.
He was born March 15, 1891 in Marion County to Will and Lettie Himebaugh McClure.
He married Edna P. Miller June 3, 1914 in Walton. She preceded him in death in 1981.
He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include brothers, Lloyd of New Park Richey, Fla., W.N. of Bath, S.D., and another sister, Florence McClure of Albuquerque, N.M.

Ex-Augustan died Friday
Steve Turner, 62, Manhattan, formerly of Augusta, died Friday at a Manhattan hospital.
His funeral was at 9 a.m. today at the Cowan-Edwards-Yorgensen Funeral Home in Manhattan with Rev. Crea Clark officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. today at the River-view Cemetery in Arkansas City. Rev. Ted Jacobs officiated.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Association.
He was born Oct. 5, 1923 in Cushing, Okla., to Harold K. and Nell Annis Turner.
He married Willetta Ryman May 12, 1946. She survives.
He was the meat market manager at Fort Riley commissary in Fort Riley. He was the meat market manager at the former Safeway Store in Augusta.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 17. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean conflict.
Other survivors include sons, Jerry of Manhattan, and Bruce of Garden City; a brother, Marvin Turner of Ponca City, Okla.; sisters, Betty Jo Dickey of Arkansas City and LaVerne Dobson of Sapulpa, Okla., and two grandchildren.
