Pryor rites tomorrow
Juanita McElhiney Pryor, 76, Rose Hill, died Saturday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Johnson and Ray Gilstrap will officiate and burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery, rural Rose Hill.
She was born Dec. 10, 1909 in Arkansas City to Anthony and Ethel Boothe Franklin.
She married Bennie Pryor of El Dorado in May, 1983. He preceded her in death.
She was a retired co-owner of a Western Auto Store. She was a retired line attendant with the A.R.A.
Survivors include sons, Andy McElhiney of El Dorado, Marvin McElhiney of Sacramento, Calif.,
Carl McElhiney of Norman, Okla.; daughters, Phyllis Showalter of Ottumwa, Iowa, Janice Dow of Edmonds, Wash., Sharon Miller of Connellsville, Penn., Vickie Detwiler of Roseville, Calif., Sue Futhey of Rose Hill; brothers, Sterling Franklin, Louis Victor Franklin, both of Arkansas City, Anthony Franklin of Anacortes, Wash.; sisters, Marjoria Anshutz of Denver, Colo, Quintella Hobson of Aberville, S.C., Betty Funk of Terre Haute, Ind.; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Alzheimer’s and Similar Diseases Association, P.O. Box 2763, Wichita, Kan., 67201.
Father died Saturday
Carl J. Plain, 87, Burlington, father of Gwen Cartwright of Augusta, died Saturday at a Topeka hospital.
The rosary will be at 8 o’clock tonight at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington. Father Ken Kelly will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waverly.
A memorial has been established with St. Joseph Cemetery Fund in Waverly.
He was born March 2, 1899 in Westphalia to John P. and Mary Anna Eickhoff Plain.
He married Mary M. Plunkett Feb. 17, 1919 in Westphalia. She survives.
He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include daughters, Ina B. Thompson of Independence and Betty Hughes of Waverly; brother, George of Garnett, Albert of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Josephine Deiker of Wichita; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Jason Starkey died Thursday
Jason L. Starkey, 24, Wichita, grandson of James E. Lough of Augusta, died Thursday in a work-related accident in Hutchinson.
His funeral was at 3 p.m. today at the Cochran Mortuary. Rev. Bill Scott and Rev. Gary Ledbetter will officiate. Burial will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established with the Amber Starkey Scholarship Fund, in care of Bank of Mid-America, 593 E. Pawnee, Wichita, Kan., 67211.
He was born March 11, 1962 in Wichita to James and Joy Lough Starkey.
He married Vickie Gray July 28, 1984. She survives.
He was a Willis Gray Mobile Home employee.
Other survivors include daughter, Amber at home; parents, James A. and Joy, brothers, James L., Jeffery, all of Wichita, and a sister, Jenny L. of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Joel Bonnell Sr. died yesterday
Joel D. Bonnell Sr., 87, Douglass, died yesterday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. A.R. Aschbrenner will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 14, 1899, in Cloverdale, Mo., to Edmund and Minerva Daffron Bonnell.
He married Charlotte Joyce. She preceded him in death in 1966.
Mr. Bonnell was a retired glazier.
Survivors include sons, Joel D. Jr. of Beatrice, Neb., William W. of Los Angeles, Calif., John of Douglass; daughter, Shirley Moore of Bellevue, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
