'Gene’ Bohon rites Saturday
W.E. “Gene” Bohon, 59, died Tuesday of a heart attack while driving a car three miles east of Leon and two miles south.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Leon Christian Church. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
A scholarship fund has been established for Jack Thomas Bohon. Memorials may be left at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado.
He was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Severy to Thomas Clark and Inez Ruth Buffalow Bohon.
He married Doris Thomas. She survives.
Mr. Bohon retired from Mobil Refinery where he worked for 37 years. He was a labor pusher.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Augusta where he had served as a former deacon. He was also a former member of the White Eagle Credit Union. During his term as a member of the Augusta school board, he served as its president.

Other survivors include sons, Jack Thomas of the home and Kenneth of Augusta; daughters, Cathy Wheeler of Glendale, Ariz., and Connie Dean of Junction City; mother, Inez Bohon of Leon; a sister, Arleta Hammer of Leon, and six grandchildren.

Rites are Friday for Jimmy Watkins
Funeral services for Jimmy K. Watkins, 49, Andover, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
Rev. Bob McGuire will officiate and burial will be in the Lake-view Cemetery.
He was born May 1, 1937 in Emporia to Edward and Thelma Karr Watkins.
He married Caroyl Andrews. She survives.
Mr. Watkins was a retired Farmers Insurance Group salesman.
Other survivors include sons, Wayne Waco, Jimmy Joe, both of Towanda, Shanon Mitchell of the home; mother, Thelma Truskolowski of Towanda; brothers, Larry of Woodward, Okla., Casey of Orlando, Fla.; sisters,
Dixie Boone of Moline, Karen Simmons of Wichita, and three grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital and the Faith Baptist Church Youth Fund in Andover.

Lucille Hurst died in New Mexico
Lucille C. Hurst, 90, Albuquerque, N.M., sister of Clovis Cash of Augusta, died Friday at a hospital there.
Her funeral was yesterday at the Chapel of Frenches Mortuary in Albuquerque.
She was a former Augusta resident and had lived in Albuquerque for a number of years.
She was married to S.A. “Art” Hurst. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Other survivors include a sister, Ida M. Perkins of Pampa, Texas.

Blair L. Johnson rites are tomorrow
Blair Lorraine Johnson, 10-month-old daughter of Bruce and Sherry Johnson, Route 3, died Wednesday at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Gayler Burow will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 11376, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73136.
She was born Oct. 6, 1985 in Wichita to Bruce Eric and Sherry Linn Luber Johnson.
Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Jessica Lindsay at home; grandparents, Kenneth W. and Beatrice Johnson of Wichita, Eugene and Clara Luber of Okarche, Okla., and great-grandparents, Edwin and Regina Bohlman of Okarche.

James Weaver died at AMCI
James W. Weaver, 86, Augusta, formerly of Leon, died Saturday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Leon, Kan., cemetery.
He was born Oct. 18, 1899 at Emporia to James and Hannah Kerst Weaver.
He married Myrtle Correll Dec. 10, 1943 in El Dorado. She survives.
Mr. Weaver owned and operated the Weaver Produce Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1963. He was a member of the Leon Christian Church, a 50-year member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge in Leon and the American Legion.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Other survivors include a sister, Emma Barnhill of Wichita, and several nieces and nephews.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.
