Minnie Landon service today at funeral home
A funeral service for Minnie Landon, 96, Rose Hill, mother of Ruby Widener of Augusta, was held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery here.
Mrs. Landon died Tuesday at the Heritage Village Nursing Home in Rose Hill.
Wednesday’s Gazette incorrectly reported that today’s funeral would be a graveside service. The Gazette regrets any inconveniences and concerns this may have caused.
She was born May 29, 1890 in Dunlap, Ill., to Felix and Marie Flick Christen.
She married Charles L. Landon Aug. 18, 1921 in Wichita. He preceded her in death in 1959.
Mrs. Landon was a member of the First Christian Church.
Other survivors include daughters, Gladys Williams of Clinton, Mo., Virginia Williams of Phoenix, Ariz., Margie Larson of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Felix, William and Edwin, and a great-grandchild, preceded her in death.
Hiram W. Harvey died Wednesday
Hiram William Harvey, 89, 201 E. Third, died Wednesday at his home,
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Elbing, Kan., cemetery.
He was born Sept. 8, 1897 in Elbing to George W. and Nettie M. Bentz Harvey.
He married Dorothy Fike in October of 1947. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Harvey was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include brothers, Theodore E. of El Dorado, Red of Potwin, James of Webb City, Mo., and Ben of Potwin, and a sister, Rhoda Kay Potts of Duncan, Okla.

Delbert Dunn died Saturday
Delbert R. “Pistol” Dunn, 61, Derby, stepfather of Marlene Nutter of Augusta, died Saturday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Rev. C.E. McDonald and Rev. Harold Henderson officiated and burial was in the Belle Plaine cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the National Kidney Foundation.
He was born Nov. 29, 1925 in Payne County, Oklahoma to Walter and Mary Gray Dunn.
He married Velma Arlene Heath. She survives.
He was a retired mechanic.
Other survivors a son, Tommy of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Debra Dunn of Belle Plaine, Mary Sue Butler of Wichita, Sandra Craig of Texarkana, Ark.; stepsons, Mike Heath of Wichita, Mark Heath of Belle Plaine; stepdaughters, Madeline Alexander of Mulvane, Mary Beth Potter of Lane, Marian Dauber of Los Angeles, Calif., Margaret Cross of Belle Plaine; brothers, Arthur, Leonard, both of Belle Plaine; sisters, Ethel Daggy, Faye Rundell, Novella Case, Charlotte Cantrell, all of Wichita; seven grandchildren, and 21 step-grandchildren.
Genevieve Weirich died in Illinois
Genevieve Shanklin Weirich, 87, McComb, Ill., formerly of Augusta, died Saturday at a heatlh care center.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today at the Sandoval Cemetery in Sandoval, Ill.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Sociey.
She was born Dec. 26, 1898 in Sandoval, Ill., to John and Ines Snider Shanklin.
She taught elementary school before her marriage to Fred Weirich on Aug. 1, 1934. He preceded her in death.
The couple lived in Augusta where she was a member of the PEO.
She was a graduate of Sandoval High School and Southern Illinois State College.
Survivors include brothers, Grant of McComb and Bruce of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Agnes Shanklin of Batavia, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
The Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby R. Crawford dies in Pennsylvania
Ruby R. Crawford, 84, Forest Hills, Penn., formerly of Leon, died Monday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Keith Mace will officiate and burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
She was bom Aug. 14, 1902 in rural Butler County to James and Martha Long Knox.
She married Gavin M. Crawford Nov. 21, 1928 in Wichita. He survives.
Other survivors include a brother, James Knox, and sister, Elsie Morgan, both of Leon.
John Hobbs died at 71
John "J.C.” Hobbs, 71, Burns, father of Susan Guzman of Leon, died Monday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Mel Brown and Pastor John R. Hobbs will officiate and burial will be in
the Ridgeway Cemetery in rural El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born Nov. 17, 1915 in Sycamore Township to Roy and Vinnie Hamilton Hobbs.
He married Marie Davey Nov. 17, 1941 in Newton. She survives.
He was a retired rancher and farmer.
Other survivors include a son, John R. of Concordia; sisters, Muriel DeWitt of El Dorado, Lola Diller of Cassoday, Margie Handle of Burns, and four grandchildren.
