Harry Waymire died Wednesday
Harry L. Waymire, 91, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita. Rev. Dick Schmidt will officiate.
He was born Feb. 22, 1895 in Burns to Joseph E. and Jessie Luella Swartz Waymire.
He was a retired carpenter. He lived in Augusta for about 50 years before moving to Wichita in 1950.
Survivors include sons, Leslie B. “Bill” and Thomas L., both of Wichita; daughters, Pearl Verna Brashier of Honey Creek, Wis., Thelma Jean Althouse of Basehor and Vera True of Wichita; a sister, Hazel Harvey of Wichita;
15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Don E. Simpson died in Wichita
Don E. Simpson, 58, Wichita, father of Ron Simpson of Augusta, died Thursday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Broadway Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Ray Emery officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Oatville.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born May 31, 1928 in Helena, Okla., to Roy Henry and Edith Elizabeth Campbell Simpson.
He married Shirley Peck in 1950. She survives.
Mr. Simpson was an automatic transmission specialist. He was a member of the National Wood-carvers Association.
Other survivors include sons, Don of Olathe and Tom of Englewood, Colo; brothers, Rolland of Fairview, Okla., Rex of McPherson, James of Helena, Okla.; sister, Mary Swander of Enid, Okla.

Former Douglass woman was stabbed to death in Wichita
Gloria Mitchell, 45, Wichita, formerly of Douglass, was found dead Saturday near the Sedgwick County landfill in Wichita.
Sedgwick County sheriff’s officers who are investigate the death report Mitchell had been stabbed several times.
Before moving to Wichita she managed a recreational center and cafe in Douglass, according to Douglass police dispatcher Sharon Spangler.
“I never thought she would have any enemies,” Spangler said. “She was always very friendly and had super nice kids.”
Mrs. Mitchell’s funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lake-view Funeral Home in Wichita. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
She was born June 9, 1941 in Kansas to James and Elmetta McQueston Todd
She married Eric Mitchell. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Carl Brumbaugh of Boyce, La.; daughters, Patricia Sanders of Maize and Connie Sharp of Douglass; her parents, _Mr. and Mrs. James Todd of Wichita; brothers, James Todd of Orange County, Fla., Larry Todd of Wichita and Andy Todd of Mustang, Okla., and four grandchildren.
Essie M. Willin died yesterday
Essie Mildred Willin, 86, 520 Osage, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lawn in El Dorado. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Augusta Medical Complex.
She was born Sept. 15, 1900 in Xenia to Samuel and Lillian Abbey Stevenson.
She married Alfred Mark Atkisson. He died. She married Arthur Willin. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Kathryn Boren of Augusta and Dorothy Raymond of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

Oilman found dead yesterday near Douglass
The 77-year-old owner of Ritchie Oil Co. of Eureka was found dead at the Santa Laura Ranch southeast of Smileyberg yesterday.
Captain Larry Cody with the Butler County sheriffs office identified the man as Charlie Ritchie.
“He was apparently checking oil leases on Friday,” Cody said. “His vehicle got stuck in mud and he was walking for help when he died.”
Cody said the death was due to natural causes.
Yesterday, deputies began looking for Ritchie after the Greenwood County sheriff’s office asked for assistance in finding the man.
