Wanda M. Thornton died in California
Wanda May Thornton, 68, Bakersfield, Calif., formelry of Augusta, died Wednesday at a hospital in Bakersfield.
There will be a cremation.
She was born Nov. 7, 1918 in Joplin, Mo.
She lived in the Augusta area for about 50 years and was a retired nursing home employee.
Survivors include sons, Leroy, Bill, addresses unknown, John of Kansas City, Mo., Dennis of Santa Paula,, Calif., Don of Bakersfield, Carl of Ventura; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Sarah T. Denner died at 62 Friday
Sarah Thompson Denner, 62, Rock Springs, Ga., died Friday.
Her funeral was at 4 p.m. yesterday at LaFayette Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home in LaFayette, Ga.
A memorial has been established with the Rock Spring United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William E. of Leon; son, John Earl of LaFayette, and two grandchildren.

William Snodgrass died in El Dorado
Retired farmer William E. Snodgrass, 78, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died yesterday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Carlson Colonial chapel in El Dorado. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery here.
A memorial has been established with the Jane Brooks School for the Deaf at Chickasha, Okla.
He was born Oct. 18, 1908 in Butler County to Andrew Larkin and Kate M. Dobbins Snodgrass.
He married Edna Bernice “Bunny” Rice March 19, 1930 in Augusta. She survives.
Snodgrass was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Augusta and the El Dorado Elks. He was a World War II veteran.
Other survivors include a daughter, Beverly Hess of El Dorado; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Pruitt dies at VA hospital
Retired police officer Alvin Pruitt, 62, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died yesterday at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carlson Colonial chapel in El Dorado. Rev. Mel Brown will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924 in Yates Center to Oscar C. and Veda Bailey Pruitt.
Survivors include sons, Howard and Alan, both of California; brothers, Everett of Norcatur and Willard of El Dorado; sisters, Barbara Rains of Wichita, Rita Hiedeman and Nadine Rutliff, both of El Dorado, and two grandchildren.

Billy E. Barber died at home
Former aircraft employee Billy E. Barber, 56, 5041/2 State Street, died yesterday at his home.
There will be a memorial service which will be announced later, according to Dick Dunsford of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
There was a cremation.
He was born Feb. 3, 1930 in Anderson, Ind., to Byrus L. and Beatrice LaVange Beard Barber.
Barber was a retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee. He had served in the Korean Conflict.
Brother, Bob L. of Wichita, Jack L. of Potwin and Charles L. of Shreveport, La., and a sister, Patsy Lou Prieba of Wichita.

Robert E. Deen died in El Dorado
Retired auto mechanic Robert E. Deen, 77, El Dorado, father of JoAnne Watson of Leon, died Wednesday at a nursing home in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Carlson Funeral Home. Rev. John Beard and Rev. Letha Wood will officiate and burial will be in the Leon, Kan., cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was born March 3, 1909 in Doniphan, Mo., to James and Allie Collier Deen.
Other survivors include sons, Robert Jr., of Lakewood, Colo., Delmar of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Mary Underwood of Westminister, Colo.; a brother; five sisters; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
