James R. Johnston dies at hospital
Barbershop owner-operator James R. Johnston, 52, Wichita, stepfather of Dave Moser of Augusta, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita. Rev. Donal Day O’Hare will officiate.
He was born Jan. 6, 1935 in Concordia to Raymond H. and Viola DeLude Johnston.
He married Phyllis Honor Feb. 4, 1983. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, James B.; daughters, Lori Johnston, Kriste Smith, all of Wichita; stepsons, Kevin Ellis, Brad Ellis, both of Wichita; stepdaughters, Johnna Stone of Wichita, Dawn Washburn of Tampa, Fla.; mother, Viola Johnston; brother, Harold, both of Concordia, Gary of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; sisters, Therese Johnson of Clay Center, Neb., Carol Ann Crosby of Humble, Texas.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer
Society.
Cochran Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
Earl L. Knox died at Wesley
Retired Beech Aircraft production worker Earl L. Knox, 74, Wichita, father of Gary Knox of Augusta, died Saturday, Feb. 14, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane. Dr. Timothy Boyd and Rev. John Dyer will co-officiate and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Oatville.
He was born July 30, 1912 in Stotesbury, Mo., to Jacob and Kate McNabb Knox.
He married Gladys Dunsworth March 14, 1958 in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Carol Spillman of Valley Center, five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Edith Morris dies at Knutson Manor
Edith B. Morris, 89, mother of Paul D. Morris of Leon, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Knutson Manor nursing home in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 18, at the Livingston Mortuary in King-man and burial will be in the cemetery there.
She was born Nov. 19, 1897 at Kingman as a daughter of Lorenza G. and Edna Wright.
She married Leo Morris Dec. 22, 1917. He preceded her in death in 1942.
In addition to her son at Leon, Mrs. Morris leaves another son, Eugene E. Morris of Cadiz, Ky.; a sister, Gladys of Kingman; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Kingman Christian Church where she was a member.
Bobby J. Lakin funeral today
Bobby J. Lakin, 50, Hillsdale, Okla., brother of Ron Lakin of Augusta and Rex Lakin of Leon, died Saturday at an Enid, Okla., hospital.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. today at the Bible Church in Hillsdale. Rev. Mike Richert officiated and
burial will be in the Hillsdale Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 21, 1937 in Fall River to Elvin and Amy Worford Lakin.
He married June Seimears Aug. 12, 1956. She survives.
He was a grain elevator manager. He was a volunteer firefighter in Hillsdale and a board member of the Hillsdale Christian School.
Other survivors include sons, Sid, Wes, Rod, all of Enid, Okla.; father, Elvin of Fall River; brothers, Roy, Dick, both of El Dorado, Bill of Beaumont, and two grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Hillsdale Christian School.
Flora E. Holmes service pending
Flora Edna Holmes, 85, 1221 School Street, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Memorial services are pending at the First Christian Church in Augusta where a memorial has been established.
She was born Jan. 3, 1902, to Edward Miller and Lydia Cody.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by a sister, Iona Davenport of Augusta

C. Harold Williams was buried Monday
Retired farmer-stockman C. Harold Williams, 85, Toronto, father of MarDell Boone of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 12, at a hospital in Fort Scott.
Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 16, at the cemetery in Toronto. Rev. O.L. Leatherman officiated.
He was born Feb. 2, 1902 in Toronto to Charles E. and Elizabeth Jane Ozborn Williams.
He married Velma Boone Jan. 14, 1920 in Yates Center. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mary J. Town of Toronto; two brothers, Amery and Nelsie, also of Toronto; a sister, Anna Terry of McLouth; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Darold, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Campbell Funeral Home of Eureka was in charge of arrangements.
