Dwight Chandler died in Garnett
Dwight Lesley Chandler, 93, Garnett, formerly of Augusta, died Tuesday at a Garnett nursing home.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at a cemetery in rural Elk City, Okla.
He was born Dec. 17, 1893, in Commanche County, Kan., to David and Hattie Finlay Chandler.
He married Myrtle Hacker on April 27,1917. She preceded him in death in 1974.
Mr. Chandler was an iron worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Egger of Garnett; three grandchildren, Ernie Egger of Garnett, Susan Henman of Fern-dale, Wash., Noreen Lair of Wichita; eight great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
The People’s Funeral Home in Lone Wolf, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.

Housewife Josephine Marie Baker, 75, of Garnett, a former Augusta resident, died Monday, March 16, at the Humana Hospital in Overland Park.
Her funeral service will be 11 o’clock Friday morning, March 20, in the Waugh-Yokum Funeral Home chapel at Iola. A graveside service will be conducted at the Elmwood Cemetey here 3 o’clock Friday afternoon.
She was born April 5, 1911 at Lovilia, Iowa, as a daughter of Bert and Bessie Funk Runnells.
On June 18, 1928, she married Vernon Baker in a ceremony at Wichita. He survives.
She and her husband lived in several Kansas towns, including Augusta, before they spent 10 years in California. They returned to Augusta in the late 1930s and moved to Garnett in 1985.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Charles Baker of Overland Park; a daughter, Darlene Schraeder of Shawnee; a brother, Jack Runnells of King-man; three sisters, Mary White and Ellen Fry of Iola, and Ann Brannum of Neodesha; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Ray L. Johnson died in Wichita
Ray LaMoyne Johnson, 58, Wichita, father of Devra Ullum of Augusta, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church. Rev. Gary Fisher will officiate and burial will be in the Belle Plaine Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born Dec. 9, 1928 in Anthony to Ray Charles and Josephine Haines Johnson.
He married Beverly Ann Stansbury on April 28, 1951 in Hays. She survives.
Mr. Johnson was an electrical design engineer at Boeing Military Aircraft Co. in Wichita. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Other survivors include sons, Douglas of Wichita, Daniel of Mount Hope; a daughter, Diana Otis of LaQuinta, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Smith Mortuary in Derby is in charge of arrangements.

James S. Butts rites are tomorrow
James S. Butts, 79, Leon, died Thursday at a nursing home in El Dorado.
A graveside service will be at the Leon, Kan., cemetary at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Rev. Art Wilson will officiate.
Mr. Butts was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Keighley to Welby M. and Bernice Blankenbaker Butts.
He married Madglyn Robison on Feb. 22, 1929, in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a member of the Leon Christian Church. Butts was a retired farmer and auctioneer.
Other survivors include sons, Raymond of Chase, and Jim of Wichita; daughters, Betty Gragg of Wellington, and Carolyn Sue McGarrah of Hurst, Texas; sisters, Ila McDaniel, Modesto, Calif., and Leatha Rettig, Wichita; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the El Dorado Nursing Center.

Evelyn Cousins died in Mississippi
Evelyn Cousins, 52, Gautier, Miss., sister-in-law of Marie Eckhardt of Augusta, died at her home in Gautier on Wednesday.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Douglass,
Kan., cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
She was born June 2, 1924, in Valleyhead, Ala., to Bloth and Lilly Mae Eddington Young.
She married Richard E. Cousins. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Scott, Chatanooga, Tenn., Richard II of Gautier; a stepson, Richard Lee Cousins of Summerville, S.C.; sister, Virginia Brewer of Rossville, Ga., and two grandchildren.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
