Luda Duryea Dies At 87
Luda Duryea, 87, Douglass, died yesterday at the Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
Her service will be at 2 p.m Friday at the First Christian Church in Douglass. Rev. Gary Bowie will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church in Douglass.
She was bom Dec. 19, 1894 in Phillips County to George and Alice Romju Abbott.
She married Glenn Duryea Feb. 23, 1916 in Phillipsburg. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1968.
She came to Douglass with her husband in 1918. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Duryea of Douglass; two daughters, Geraldine Taylor of Freemont, Calif., and Phyllis Martin of rural Augusta;
two brothers, Owen Abbott of Republican City, Neb., and Lawrence Abbott of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Grandmother Dies
Minnie Warren Miller, 72, Sulphur, Okla., grandmother of Mark Cleveland of Augusta, died Sunday, May 9.
Her service was Tuesday, May 11, in Sulphur.
Other survivors include sons, Billy Warren of Sulphur and Mickey Warren of Sulphur; three daughters, Jo Aaron, of Sulphur, Ginger Cleveland, Alexandria, La., Sue Madigan, Tulsa, Okla., and 15 grandchildren, and five great-greatgrandchildren.

Gordon Mohler Dies At 71
Gordon Mohler, 79, rural Leon, died yesterday at an El Dorado nursing home.
His service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon Christian Church. Rev. Vernon Frantz and Rev. Chester Bodenhamer will officiate and burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was bom Dec. 28, 1902 in Leon to Hiram and Gurtha Gordon Mohler.
He married Vena White in Latham Feb. 22, 1928. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and a
retired Loadcraft Co. employee in Augusta.
He was a member of the Leon Christian Church and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows.
Other survivors include a son, Beryl Mohler of Leon; four daughters, Wanda Haigler of El Dorado, Edith Hull of Whitewater, Joyce Reed and Leona Knight, both of Leon; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
The Kirby-Morris Funeral Home of El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Gwen Thiel Dies At 54
Gwen M. Thiel, 54, rural Douglass, died Saturday, May 15, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Her service will be 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Smith Mortuary chapel in Derby with Rev. Wendell Whitney of Wichita officiating and burial in the Douglass cemetery.
The Cessna Aircraft employee was born July 12, 1927 in Pittsburg to Earl and Nellie Waits Spencer.
Mrs. Thiel leaves her husband, Bob, of the home; three sons, Ronnie, Dennis and Jim Deal, all of Wichita; three step-sons, Rocky Thiel of Douglass, Bobby and Eugene Thiel, both of Ronan, Mont.; a daughter, Beverly Deal of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her father, Earl Spencer of Wichita; four sisters, Gini McPheeter, Marilyn Mitcheal and Nor German, all of Wichita, and Carol Cree of Emporia, and nine grandchildren.
