L.W. ‘Bud’ Payton died at AMCI
Leonard W. “Bud” Payton, 74, Douglass, died Wednesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born April 26, 1912, in Scott, Okla., to Ira Lee and Lillie Mae Howe Payton.
He married Eula Ermine Rowe on Nov. 4, 1936, in Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Payton was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include a son, Roger of Douglass; daughters, Charlene Davis of Atlanta, Georgia Bergley of Douglass; brothers, Albert Ben Payton of Douglass, Melvin Payton of Howard, Chester Payton of Wichita; sisters, Mamie Gillum of Douglass, Belle Seward and Myrtle Seward, both of Minco, Okla.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Clara B. Edson died Tuesday
Clara Belle Edson, 59, Neodesha, sister of Earl Songer of Augusta, died Tuesday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Loran-Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha. Rev. Cal Dickinson will officiate and burial will be in the Neodesha Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born March 18, 1928, in Neodesha to John E. and Lennie Belle Vandaveer Geiser.
She married Martin Hale Edson on March 4, 1947, in Neodesha. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Edson was the former owner and operator of the Edson Liquor Store in Neodesha.
Other survivors include her mother, Lennie Belle Geiser of Neodesha.

Horace Doublin died in Andover
Horace Doublin, 92, Andover, died today at the Andover Health Care Home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born June 25, 1894,in Viola, Ark., to Marsh and Nancy Jane Huston.
He married Nola Ruth Roby in 1917 in Viola, Ark. She survives.
Mr. Doublin served in the military during World War I. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a former city employee.
Other survivors include a son, Roudolph Doublin of Anaheim, Calif.; daughter, Agnes Adams of Ava, Mo.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

O.E. Isaak, Aurora, Colo., died of an apparent heart attack at his home Saturday.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Mrs. Dale Stinson funeral at Emporia
A funeral service for Mrs. Dale (Eloise) Stinson, formerly of Augusta, will begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Westminister Presbyterian Church at Emporia. Burial will be in the cemetery at Viola, Kan.
Mrs. Stinson, a cancer victim, died Sunday.
Saturday service for stillborn infant
Jesse Lee Ewertz, son of Robert and Tracy Brown Ewertz of Douglass, was stillborn Friday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service was held Saturday evening at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Conway Springs. Rev. Leroy Linnebur officiated.

Vernon Mahlandt died in Wichita
Marvin Vernon Mahlandt, 68, rural Derby, brother of Lillian Helmer of Augusta and William Mahlandt of Douglass, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Douglass Church of Christ. Keith Shepherd will officiate and burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery near Douglass.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was born Jan. 3, 1919, in rural Derby to Charles C. and Freida Geraldine Toben Mahlandt.
He married Alpha Jean Duvall on Jan. 13, 1951, in Hollis, Okla. She survives.
Mr. Mahlandt was a farmer and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.
Former Augustan’s funeral was today
I.K. “Ike” Fretz, 68, Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Augusta, died Friday in Talladega, Ala., while visiting a son, Dr. David Fretz.
His funeral was this afternon in the Baptist Church at Canton. Rev. Ernest Clark officiated and burial was in the Canton Township Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
