Virgina Brown died at AMCI
Virginia D. Brown, 68, Route 2, died Saturday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Garrison Cemetery, six miles east of Augusta. Rev. Art Wilson will officiate.
She was born Sept. 24,1918, in Wichita to Martin Alexander and Hazel Weaver Brown.
Survivors include her mother, Hzael O. Rebenstorf of Augusta.
The Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Former Augustan’s funeral was Monday
I.K. “Ike” Fretz, 68, Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Augusta, died Friday in Talladega, Ala., while visiting a son, Dr. David Fretz.
His funeral was Monday afternon in the Baptist Church at Canton. Rev. Ernest Clark officiated and burial was in the Canton Township Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Canton to Isaac K. and Minnie B. Hartronft Fretz.
He married Bernice Keen on Oct. 27, 1945, in Augusta where they made their home for a number of years. She survives.
Mr. Fretz was a retired law enforcement officer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Harlingen.
Besides his wife, other survivors include sons, Dr. David Fretz of Talladega, Fred of Olmitz; brothers, Thad of Inman, Sam of Wichita, Jean of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Frances of Phoenix, Dee Miller of McPherson; 17 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was a brother-in-law of Olive Richey and an uncle of Connie McMurphy of Augusta.
Olson’s Mortuary in Canton was in charge of arrangements.

Saturday service for stillborn infant
Jesse Lee Ewertz, son of Robert and Tracy Brown Ewertz of Douglass, was stillborn Friday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
A graveside service was held Saturday evening at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Conway Springs. Rev. Leroy Linnebur officiated.
Survivors include a brother, Michael, and a sister, Sarah, both at home; grandparents, Jim and Mary Ewertz of Conway Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brown of Clearwater; great-grandparents, Elsie Ewertz of Conway Springs, Martha Luckner of Conway Springs, Thelma Henderson of Niotaze, James Brown of Parsons.
Ebersole Mortuary in Conway Springs was in charge of arrangements.

Robert H. Carter dies in California
Robert Henry Carter, 68, Pinedale, Calif., formerly of Augusta, died April 9 in a hospital there.
A memorial service was April 11 at the Hope Lutheran Church. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Riverside, Calif.
Memorials have been established with the Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice of Fresno, Calif., and the American Cancer Society.
He was born in Douglass to Henry and Dolly Carter.
His parents later moved to Augusta where he attended Lily Lake School and Augusta High School. He also attended El Dorado Junior College.
Mr. Carter worked for Mobil Pipeline for 35 years before retiring in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Merna of the home; sons, Greg of San Diego, Calif., Dennis of Running Springs, Calif.; daughter, Sondra of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren and a cousin, Nick Carter of Tallahassee, Fla.
Besides his parents, a brother, Chet, also preceded him in death.

Vena Mohler died Monday
Vena Mohler, 78, Leon, died Monday at Wheatstate Manor Nursing Home in Whitewater.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Leon Christian Church. Rev. Chester Bodenhammer will officiate and burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Ronald McDonald House in Wichita and the Leon Library for large print books.
She was bom May 30,1908, in Cassoday, to Walter and Edith Minard White.
She married Gordon Mohler on Feb. 22, 1928, in Latham. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1982.
Mrs. Mohler attended the Leon Baptist Church and was a former member of Rebekah Lodge in Leon. She lived in Latham before moving to Leon in 1928.
Survivors include a son, Beryl Mohler of Augusta; daughters, Wanda Haigler of El Dorado, Edith Hull of Whitewater, Joyce Reed and Leona Knight, both of Leon; a brother, LeRoy White of El Dorado; a sister, Leona Page of Springhill; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.
