Lura Mae Pyle died in Peabody
Lura Mae Pyle, 81, Towanda, died Sunday at the Peabody Nursing Center in Peabody.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Towanda United Methodist Church of Christ. Rev. Fred Houston will officiate and burial will be in the Towanda Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the music departments at the Towanda United Methodist Church of Christ or the Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado.
She was born Sept. 28, 1905, in Columbia, Mo., to Yevington and Hattie Gillespie Cox.
She married Albert Pyle on Nov. 8, 1925, in Towanda. He preceded her in death in 1960.;
Mrs. Pyle was active in community affairs including church activities. She played the piano for the Christian Church and was a member of the EMB Club and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and EMB Club.
Survivors include a son, Thomas G. Pyle of Towanda; daughters, Nora Gene McWilliams of Towanda, Gayle DaMetz of Towanda and Albert Gardner of El Dorado; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Mahlandt died in Wichita
Marvin Vernon Mahlandt, 68, rural Derby, brother of Lillian Helmer of Augusta and William Mahlandt of Douglass, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral was this morning at the Douglass Church of Christ. Keith Shepherd will officiate and burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery near Douglass.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was born Jan. 3, 1919, in rural Derby to Charles C. and Freida Geraldine Toben Mahlandt.
He married Alpha Jean Duvall on Jan. 13, 1951, in Hollis, Okla. She survives.
Mr. Mahlandt was a farmer and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.
Other survivors include son, Kerry Karl of Rose Hill; daughters, Pamela McCoy and Terrie Bemis, both of Wichita, Joyce Sears of Udall, Judy Wealand of Cedar Point, Gay Mahlandt of the home, and five grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Loretta M. Smith died Monday at 57
Loretta Mae Smith, 57, Udall, died Monday at her home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Swisher-Taylor-Morris Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Fred Dycus will officiate and burial will be in the Stalter Cemetery at Rock.
She was born June 19,1929, in Leon to Chris and Merlie Cox Lingafelter.
She married Ronald K. Smith in 1954. He died in 1972.
Mrs. Smith was a retired Medicalodge of Douglass employee.
Survivors include sons, Scott of Udall, Chris of Douglass, and a brother, Chlorus Lingafelter of Wichita.

Tempie L. Ordway died at AMCI
Tempie Leone Ordway, 90, Augusta, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Council Hill Cemetery in Peck. Rev. Burl Allison will officiate.
She was born May 6, 1896, in Carrolton, Mo., to David and Katherine Meadows Comeford.
She married Roy Ordway who preceded her in death in 1957.
Mrs. Ordway was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Ordway of Galena, Mo.; daughters, Katherine Whitacre of Augusta, Dorothy Elliott of Cascade, Mo., Betty Grammer of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Roscoe Saltkill died in Wichita
Harace Roscoe Saltkill, 59, 805 Gardner, died today at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be Monday at the Cross Roads Church near Galena, Mo. Burial will be in the Cross Roads Cemetery. No time has been set yet.
He was born July 6, 1927, in Galena to James and Mamie Bowman Thomas Saltkill.
He married Blanche LaRue Hunt on July 8, 1966, in Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Saltkill was a retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee and had served in the Army.
Other survivors include a son, Robert Saltkill of Augusta; stepsons, Frank L. Chambers of Wichita and Randy Chambers of Colorado; daughters, Barbara Layton of Springfield, Mo., Shawna Saltkill and Beverly Salt-kill, both of Augusta; stepdaughter, Mary Ratcliff of Wichita; brother, C.L. Saltkill of Greenwich; sister, Flossie Martin of Crane, Mo., and eight grandchildren.
