McDaniel dies in crash
Kelli Ann McDaniel, 13-year-old daughter of Jack C. and Susan McDaniel of Augusta, died Saturday from injuries suffered in a van/truck accident near Olathe on I-35.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church multipurpose youth center. Contributions may be sent in care of the Citadel Bank of Augusta.
She was born Jan. 17,1974, in St. Louis, Mo., to Jack C. and Susan C. Peters McDaniel.
She came to the Augusta area in 1979 and was a seventh grader at the Augusta Middle School. In school, she participated on the volleyball team, the year book staff and was a member of the College Bowl team. She was also a member of the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
Other survivors include brother, Chad, at home; grandparents, Elmer and Charlene McDaniel of Augusta, Harold and Eleanor Peters of Lake City, Minn.; great-grandparents, Millia McDaniel of Augusta, Stella Thurman of Clovis, N.M.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nelson funeral Tuesday
Jolene Michelle Nelson, 12-year-old daughter of Robert and Donna Nelson of rural Augusta, died Saturday from injuries suffered in a two vehicle accident on 1-35 near Olathe.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall will officiate and burial will be in the Springside Cemetery in Arkansas City.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church multipurpose youth center.
She was born Jan. 12,1975, in Pratt, to Robert and Donna Nelson.
She was a sixth grader at the Augusta Middle School where she was a member of the honor choir. She had lived in the Augusta area for the past four years and attended the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
Other survivors include sister, Beverly, at home; grandparents, John and Eileen Reddy of Caldwell, Don and Betty Nelson of Arkansas City; great-grandparents, Bennett and Jeannie Emmons of Latham, Walter Reedy of Bartlesville, Okla.
The Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Gilcrest funeral today
Funeral services for James L. Gilcrest, 29, Route 1, were at 3 p.m. today at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Gilcrest, the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church youth director, died Saturday on I-35 near Olathe after the van he was driving struck a semi-tractor trailer.
There will be another service at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall of Augusta and Rev. Dan Shaffer of Liberal will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberal, Kan. cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church in Augusta.
He was born April 20,1958, in Liberal, to Roy V. and Sara M. Sly Gilcrest Jr.
Mr. Gilcrest was a Wichita State University student and was to have graduated this year.
Survivors include his parents, Roy and Sara Gilcrest Jr. of Liberal, and a brother, Thomas of St. Joseph, Mo.
