Wednesday rites for Sims
William Paul Sims, 15-year-old son of James and Cynthia Sims of Route 1, died Saturday in a van/truck accident on I-35 near Olathe.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall and Rev. Gus Kubish will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church gymna-torium multi-purpose building.
He was born Dec. 28, 1971, in El Dorado, to James Michael and Cynthia Kay Brunton Sims.
He was a freshman at Augusta High School. Special interests included computers, fishing and camping. AHS officials indicate Sims was academically orientated and he was listed on both the high honors and honors honor rolls.
He was a member of the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
Other survivors includeb rothers, Shane Michael, James Matthew of the home; grandparents, Lucille Brunton of Augusta, Helen Frieden of Derby, Blackie Spalding of Prue, Okla.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brian Avers dies at age 12
Brian Lee Avers, 12-year-old son of Barry and Marsha Avers of Rose Hill, died Saturday from injuries suffered in a van/truck accident on I-35 near Olathe.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Rose Hill. Rev. Gary Brown will officiate and burial will be in the Belle Plaine Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 26, 1975, in Shawnee Mission, to Barry Lynn and Marsha Karen Roth Avers.
He was a sixth grader at the Rose Hill Middle School.
Other survivors include a sister, Sonja of the home; grandparents, Deryl and Denalda Avers of Rose Hill, Chester Roth of Van Buren, Ark.
Smith Mortuary in Derby is in charge of arrangements.
LaCamp service Tuesday
Rhonda Kay LaCamp, 15-year-old daughter of James and Sue LaCamp of Rose Hill, died Saturday in a van-truck accident near Olathe on I-35.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Rose Hill High School gym. Rev. Paul Johnson with Rose Hill Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in a Springfield, Ore., cemetery.
She was born Aug. 1, 1971, in Salina to James W. and Sue Lukes LaCamp.
She was a sophomore at Rose Hill High School.
Besides her parents, other survivors include a brother, Tom of Alameda, Calif., and grandparents, Mrs. Tom Lukes of Woodward, Okla., and Mrs. and Mrs. John Everett LaCamp of Spring-field, Ore.
Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.

Special fund for Nelson family
The Jolene Nelson Memorial
Fund has been established at the Citadel Bank in Augusta to help family members during their time of crisis.
Augustans Carol Courtwright and Kathy Day, friends of the Nelson family, are coordinating the effort through the Citadel Bank.
The 12-year-old daughter of Robert and Donna Nelson of rural Augusta died Saturday in a two
vehicle accident on I-35 near Olathe. She was one of six people killed, all from the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church, who were in a caravan to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City to celebrate a Christian Youth Day.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall officiated and burial was in the Springside Cemetery in Arkansas City.
