Michael Surber rites Thursday
A funeral service for 15-year-old Michael LaVergne “Mike” Surber, formerly of Augusta, has been set for 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, May 14, at the Camp Verde Christian Church. Burial will be in the Middle Verde Cemetery.
Surber died Sunday evening, May 10, at the Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital in Cottonwood, Ariz. He was born March 11, 1972.
Surviving are his parents, Vern and Janell Surber; a sister, Eshel-le “Shelly” Surber; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Martha Surber of Kansas, and maternal grandparents, Ronald and Shirley Mahaffey of Camp Verde.
Surber, who relocated to Arizona with his family about 11 months ago, was a freshman at Camp Verde High School, a member of the wrestling team and the school band. He was well liked by fellow students and school officials.
The B.J. Hepler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2318, Camp Verde Ariz., 86322, is in charge of arrangements.

Vesta L. Hyde died in California
Vesta L. Lichlyter Hyde, 65, Folsom, Calif., formerly of Augusta, died Saturday.
A service has been held.
A memorial has been established with the Sacramento Audubon Society.
Survivors include her husband, William; son, Robert Tyrell of , San Diego, Calif.; sister, Audrian Muck of Winfield, and two grandchildren.

Margaret Carney rites were today
Margaret V. Carney, 90, Omaha, Neb., sister of Anne R. Pot-torff of Douglass, died Friday.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. today at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita.
Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita was in charge of arrangements.

Garrett Holman died yesterday
Garrett A. Holman, 72, Wichita, son-in-law of Mrs. James F. Johnson of Augusta, died Tuesday.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the Hospice of Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a son, Kent; a daughter, Karen Alcaraz; sister, Jewell Brooks, all of Wichita.

Raymond E. Ellis died at AMCI
Raymond Eugene Ellis, 69, Route 2, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Art Wilson will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born March 2,1918, in Jetmore, to Alonza J. and Mabel Mendenhall Ellis.
He married A. Lorene Jordan on Sept. 17,1961, in Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Ellis was a retired Wichita city employee. He worked in the traffic department.
Other survivors include a daughter, Janet Little of Latham; a stepdaughter, Lana S. Koop of Wichita; sisters, Esther Nelson of Burns and Lillian Phillips of Bellevue, Neb.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Ralph Homer Haas died yesterday at 91
Ralph Homer Haas, 91, Route 1, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Kechi Cemetery. Rev. Harold Kieler will officiate.
He was born Sept. 20,1895, in Kechi, to John and Elizabeth $toltz Haas.
He married Susan Ann McCormack in 1919 in Kechi. She preceded him in death.
He married Mary Markley who preceded him in death.
Mr. Haas was a retired farmer. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and the Grange.
Survivors include sons, Elwood Haas of Augusta, John Haas of Benton; daughters, Joan Brady of Benton and LaVon Robinson of Fredonia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Cora Tibbetts died in Oklahoma
Cora Letha Tibbetts, 88, Lenexa, formerly of Augusta, died yesterday in at a hospital there.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 23, 1898, in Stillwater, Okla., to Ephriam and Julia Ann Hughs Benifiel.
She married Lynn W. Tibbetts in Nowata, Okla., on April 29, 1917. He survives.
Mrs. Tibbetts was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Hutton of Lenexa; two grandchildren, Jeanne Ralston and Pennie von Achen, and four grandchildren, Bill and Tom Ralston and Megan and Kate von Achen.
A daughter, Carol Jean, preceded her in death.
