Graveside Rites For Max Rich
Max F. Rich, 32, rural Augusta, was found dead Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Pratt.
A memorial has been established with the Humane Society.
Butler County Sheriff Dave Williams said the results of the autopsy are not in yet.
Rich worked as a heat treater in Wichita.
Survivors include his parents, Pauline Kaufman of Wichita and Robert Rich of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Robert K. Rich of Mansfield, Texas, and a grandmother, Florence Fincham of Pratt.
Larrison Mortuary in Pratt is in charge of arrangements.
Nyman VanScyoc Died Thursday
Nyman Franklin VanScyoc, 73, Route 1, died Thursday, May 20, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ninnescah Cemetery in rural Udall. Rev. Judd Kirk will officiate.
He was bom Aug. 30, 1908 in Kansas to William F. and Helen Mabel Morgan Van Scyoc.
He married Billie McDowell Sept. 8, 1953 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He was a retired maintenance mechanic at Boeing Aircraft Co. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Jesse Van Scyoc, Wichita; a stepson, Donald McDowell, Green Bay, Wis.; daughters, Penny Howell, Augusta, Peggy Wyss, Wichita, Patty Van Scyoc, Wichita, and Lasema Banks, Law Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Nine Easter, Windsor, Mo., and eight grandchildren.
Two brothers, Elmo and E.B., preceded him in death.

Thompson Rites Held Today
A funeral service for Hazel G. Thompson, Cypress, Calif., a former Leon resident, was held today at Forest Park Memorial Park in Cypress.
The 80-year-old homemaker died Thursday, May 20.
Laurence Pile Died May 20
Laurance S. Pile, 72, Bronson, Kan., a brother of Mildred Miller at Douglass, died Thursday, May 20.
His funeral service was at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Kunkel funeral chapel in Moran with burial in the Bronson cemetery.
A memorial to the American Heart Association through the Kunkel Funeral Home at Moran has been suggested.
The retired farmer was bom Dec. 31, 1909 at Mount Hope to George and Mary Ellen Stamback Pile.
He married the former Wilma Huntsman Dec. 4, 1946 at Wichita. She survives.
In addition to the sister at Douglass and his wife, Pile leaves a son, Laurance Pile Jr. in Wichita; a daughter, JoAnn Nichols of Wichita; two stepsons, Raymond and Wilson Ashford, both of Bronson; a brother, Glenn of Corpus Christi, Texas; another sister, June Cathey of Maise, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Former Augustan’s Husband Dies At 81
Earl Thomas Stockton, 81, husband of Lola Ostendorf Stockton, a former Augustan, died May 12 and his funeral service was May 15 in Shawnee, Okla.
Mrs. Stockton once operated a market about two miles east of Augusta. She lives in Room 226, 101 W. Tenth, Shawnee, Okla., 74801.
The Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee was in charge of arrangements.

Michelle O’Brien
Michelle Ann O’Brien, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew O’Brien of Stillwater, Okla., and great-granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Green at Douglass, died May 14.
Her funeral was in Stillwater and a memorial has been established in her name with the Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City.

T.A. Gudenkauf
Thomas A. Gudenkauf Sr., 62, son of Mrs. Mary Gudenkauf of Augusta, died Saturday, May 22, at a Topeka hospital.
He is survived by his wife, H. Maxine, five sons, a daughter, two sisters, five brothers including Richard Gudenkauf of Augusta, and 12 grandchildren.
