Besse P. Webb services Wednesday
Besse Pearl Webb, 88, Augusta, died today at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery. Dunsford Funeral Home, 201 East Fifth has the arrangments.
Webb was born Oct. 21, 1898 to Jess E. Clark and Margaret Torbett in Yale, Kan.
On Dec. 25, 1918, she and William “Shorty” T. Webb were married in Girard. He preceded her in death in 1962.
She was a homemaker and member of the First Christian Church.
Her survivors include: daughters, Jean Churchill Evans of Hemet, Calif., Alice Dehler of Augusta, Jackie Ward of Chanute; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death: son, Lyle; four brothers, two sisters.
A memorial has been established with the First Christain Church building fund.

Ex-area resident services held
Rita R. Girod, 44, Cambridge, formerly of Douglass, died Tuesday, June 30 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Her funeral services were July 3 at Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield.
Girod was born Sept. 20, 1942 to Mervin and Lorene Gwartney Finley in Gravette, Ark.
On June 4, 1960, she and Wade Girod were married in Wichita.
She was a retired first shift lead operator for Gott Corp. and member of the Cambrige Baptist Church.
Her survivers include: husband, Wade of Cambridge; son, Rene Girod IV of Billings, Mont.; daughter, Cynthia Ann Glover of Okinawa, Japan; mother, Lorene Finley of Kechi; brother, Stanley Finley of Wichita; sisters, Wanda Dieker of Kechi, Leta Maddox of Huntsville, Ala.
Memorials have been established with the Cowley County Hospice, Inc. and with the American Cancer Society.

Reba L. Quirk funeral tomorrow
Reba Larene Quirk, 70, Augusta, died Thursday, July 2 at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery and Rev. Harold Kieler will officiate. Dusnford Funeral Home, 201 East Fifth, has the arrangements.
Quirk was born May 11, 1917 to Doyle Hyde and Barbara Pauley in Cloud Chief, Okla.
On March 21, 1967, she and Patrick James Quirk were married in Newkirk, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a retired Beech Aircraft Corp. employee and a member of the Methodist Church. Her survivors include: son, Philip Biggart of Augusta; daughter, Leslye Davis of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Paul Hyde of Manitowac, Wis.; sisters, Ila Cleary of Huntington Park, Calif., Glenna Miller of Roosevelt, Okla; five grandhcildren, two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Nettie Hamblet funeral tomorrow
Nettie (Hill) Hamblet, 90, of Augusta, died at Walnut Valley Nursing Home here Monday, July 6.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at Dunsford Chapel, 201 E. Fifth. Rev. Gus Kubish will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Hamblet was born July 10, 1896 to Thomas Hill and Edith Stucker at Butler, Mo.
On Nov. 15, 1934, she and Hobson Hamblet were married in Augusta. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She had been a receptionist for a medical office.
Survivors include: brother, Percy Hill of LaJolla, Calif.; sister, Florence Palmer of Bend, Ore.; nephews, Paul Dill of Augusta, Russell Hill of Jefferson City, Mo.; nieces, Elva Webster of Derby, Ethel Coy of Rose Hill, Helen Ensminger of Wichita, Donna Day of New Jersey, Louise Siddall of San Diego, Calif.

Evelyn I. Reneau service tomorrow
Evelyn Irene Reneau, 38, El Dorado, a student, died in her home Tuesday, July 7.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at Dunsford Funeral Home, 201 East Fifth. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Reneau was born Sept. 17, 1948 to Walter William Lechner and Alice Leona Crowl in Neodesha.
Her survivors include: daughters, Caralee Jones of El Dorado, Loralee Woolery and Barbara Lee Woolery, both of Wichita; brother, Walter W. Lechner of El Dorado; sisters, Alene Daggett, Maxine Gracy and Darlene Lechner all of Wichita; parents, Walter W. and Alice Leona Lechner of Wichita.

Murray A. Wike died yesterday
Murray A. Wike, 74, Augusta, died at his home yesterday.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 1501 State Street. Rev. Richard Axmann will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Wike was born Dec. 2, 1912 to Vesta Ralph Wike and Amber Lucinda Murrey in Augusta,
On Dec. 10, 1939, he and Cora Ella Coons were married in Augusta.
Wike operated a water well service and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
His survivors include: wife, Cora; sons, Norman of Wichita and Ralph of Marion; daughters, Melba Staats of Visalia, Calif., Patricia Fletcher of Wichita and Ruby Simon of Augusta; brothers, Virgil of Mesa, Ariz., Sam of Blach Springs, Texas and Robert of Augusta; sisters, Opal Robey of Wichita, Delma Pencek of Shreveport, La.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Ruby Humphrey and Bonnie Martens, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church.
