Melva Zimmerman services tomorrow
Melva M. (Asmussen) Zimmerman, 89, homemaker, of Mulvane, formerly of Douglass, died Friday, July 31.
Her graveside service will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at Douglass Cemetery and Rev. Andy Courier will officiate.
Zimmerman was born Feb. 9, 1898 to Andrew J. Asmussen and Leona Allspaugh Asmussen in Douglass.
On March 28, 1931 she and Carl Zimmerman were married in Wichita. He preceded her in death May 28, 1974.
Her survivors include: half brother, Jack Asmussen, of McComa Park, Okla.; half sister, Grace Sanuelson of Carson City, Nev.

Helen M. Brown service tomorrow
Helen Margaret (Beard) Brown, 82, of Leon, died Monday, Aug. 3.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery and Rev. R. Wilson will officiate.
Brown was born Nov. 1, 1904 to G.B. and Elgie (Cain) Beard in DeGraff, Kan.
On June 21, 1927, she and Roy Brown were married in Alva, Okla. He preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1970.
Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Leon Christian Church, El Dorado Encampment 56, Little Walnut EHU and Rebekah Lodge.
Her survivors include: brothers, Alfred Beard of Sedan, James Beard of Atlanta, Kan. ; sisters, Ruth Crawford of El Dorado, Martha Courtoy of Aurora, Mo.; grandchildren, Becky Myers of Leon, Kathy Myers of Chattanooga, Term., Karen Myers of Fredonia, Lisa Boaldin of El Dorado.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

Milton Schoenborn died in Wichita
Milton Herbert "Tommy" Schoenborn, 81, Wichita, brother of Margaret Balling of Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 3.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane. Burial will be in Mulvane Cemetery and Rev. Dean Rose will officiate.
Schoenborn was born March 25, 1906 to Adam J. and Anna (Hoffman) Schoenborn in Green-leaf, Kan.
On Aug. 2, 1947, he and Leah Burgess were married in Wichita.
Schoenborn was retired owner and operator of Schoenborn Pool Service.
In addition to his sister here, survivors include: wife, Leah; son, Frank of Wichita; one grandchild.

Esther Reyer died in Colorado
Esther Reyer, 92, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Rose Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 8 in Boulder, Colo.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Friends Church. Rev. Alden Pitts will officiate and burial will be in Friends Cemetery in Rose Hill. Smith Mortuary in Derby has the arrangements.
Reyer was born March 16, 1895, to John and Ladoura (Chance) Hinshaw in Travis City, Mich.
On Dec. 12, 1917, she and Virgil Reyer were married on her family’s farm near Rose Hill.
Reyer was a 1915 graduate of Rose Hill High School. She taught school at Rose Hill for two years following graduation and moved to Colorado in 1936.
Her survivors include: husband, Virgil of Longmont; son, Eldon of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter, Nelda Patterson of Yakima, Wash.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Rose Hill Friends Church.

Glenn L. Hoover died Thursday
Glenn L. Hoover, 71, Toronto, stepfather of Vernon Glenn of Augusta, died Thursday, Aug. 6 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.
His funeral service was 10:30 a.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial was 3 p.m. in Maude Cemetery in Cunningham.
Hoover was born Feb. 8, 1916, to Charles D. Hoover and Harriett Augusta (Long) Hoover in Toronto, Kan.
On March 9, 1958, he and Marguerite Northrop Glenn were married in Sawyer, Kan.
Hoover was a retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his stepson here, survivors include: wife, Marguerite; son, Norman of Benton; stepsons, Clay Glenn of Denver, Ray Glenn of Medicine Lodge, Ronnie Glenn of Mountainside, N.J.; stepdaughter, Helen Swingley of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Lloyd of Toronto, Charles of Williams, Ore.; sisters, Bonnie Misgades of Suisun City, Calif., Clara Willinger of Cunningham; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Toronto Wesleyan Church.

Virginia Furrow, 64, of Augusta, died this morning at St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita. Services are pending at the Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard. She is locally survived by her husband Emery and son Lonnie, of the home.
