Virginia Furrow services tomorrow
Virginia (VanBuskirk) Furrow, 63, a homemaker, of Augusta, died yesterday, Aug. 10.
Her graveside service will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard. Rev. Dennis Lorenz will officiate and Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard has the arrangements.
Furrow was born Oct. 9, 1923 to Jack and Elizabeth (Cogdall) VanBuskirk in Howard.
On June 24, 1940, she and Emery Furrow were married in Eureka.
Her survivors include: husband, Emery; son, Lonnie of Augusta; daughter, Judy Muse of Springfield, Mo.; father, Jack Van Buskirk of Howard; brothers, Jackie VanBuskirk of Peck, Gary VanBuskirk of Liberal; sisters, Doris Bateman of Peck, Katherine Mitchell of Howard, Deloris Cline of Augusta; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with the Virginia (VanBuskirk) Furrow Memorial Fund, in care of the Howard, Kan. State Bank.

Clarence F. White died in Wichita
Clarence F. White, 87, of Douglass, died yesterday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.
His graveside service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at Richland Cemetery. Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass has the arrangements.
White was born Nov. 16, 1899 in Douglass and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
His survivors include: adopted son, Frank Knerr of Topeka; stepson, Glenn Young of Douglass; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Legion.

Doris Evenson funeral Friday
Doris Marie Simmons Evenson, 58, of El Dorado, mother of Logan and Ray, both of Augusta, died in St. Joseph Medical Center yesterday, Aug. 11.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery near Eureka.
Evenson was born Sept. 2, 1928 to Raymond and Grace Lovely Simmons in Climax, Kan.
On Dec. 21, 1947, she and Oscar Evenson were married in Emporia.
Evenson was the former Tiny Tots day-care center director and teacher.
In addition to her two sons here, survivors include: husband, Oscar; son, Arne of Murdock; daughters, Sharon Dennis of Great Bend, Mary Patton of Garnett, Lois Carson of El Dorado; parents, Raymond and Grace Simmons of Fredonia; brothers, Donald Simmons, Dale Simmons, both of Wichita; 10 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the St. Joseph Hospital Pediatric Department in Wichita.

Arthur E. Cox funeral tomorrow
Arthur E. Cox, 59, of Haysville, father of Connie Scharff of Douglass, died yesterday, Aug. 12.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church in Haysville. Rev. Charles Daggett will officiate and burial will be 3 p.m. in Post Cemetery in Fort Riley. Smith Mortuary has the arrangements.
Cox was born Oct. 12, 1927 to William Logan Cox and Myrtle Ellen McMahon Cox in Charleston, Ill.
On Feb. 14, 1947, he and Alice Pearl Cutright were married in Charleston, Ill.
Cox was a city of Haysville utility employee and retired Army command sergeant major.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and was a student at Wichita State University.
In addition to his daughter in Douglass, survivors include: wife, Pearl; sons, Gary E. of Wichita, William A. of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Shari, at home, Judy Carrell, Mary Gillespie, both of Wichita; 10 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Thomas S. Thorn died at home
Thomas S. Thorn, 86, of Augusta, retired production foreman for Cities Service Oil Co., died at home today.
His graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick, Kan. Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Thorn was born Dec. 12, 1900 to William John Thorn and June Studebaker Thorn in Guthrie, Okla.
On March 25, 1961, he and Gladyce Browning were married in Newton.
Thorn was a member of the Methodist Church and the B.P.O.E. 1462.
His survivors include: wife, Gladyce; sons, Tom of Augusta, Stephan of Kerrville, Texas; stepson, Douglas Browning of Coral Gables, Fla.; stepdaughter, Sharon Whiteman of Tulsa; brother, William Thorn of Tulsa; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
