Alice E. Ratzlaff died Tuesday
Alice E. (Boese) Ratzlaff, 83, of Great Bend, sister of Inez Hiebert of Augusta, died Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Her funeral service was 2 p.m. today at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Rev. J.P. McCamey officiated and burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Radium, Kan.
Ratzlaff was born Feb. 23, 1904 in Barton County to Sam and Eva Schultz Boese.
On April, 23, 1933, she and Herman Ratzlaff were married in Barton County.
Ratzlaff was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly Church of God.
In addition to her sister here, survivors include: husband, Herman; sons, John of Pawnee Rock, James of Marion, Ohio; daughter, Laverda Helwig of Macomb, Ill.; brothers, Walter Boese of Seward, Edward Boese of Independence, Mo.; sisters, Lena Whitman of Mannford, Okla., Eva Hiebert, Clara Huddleston, both of Larned, Marjorie
Andrasck of Garden City; 11 grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with First Assembly of God Church.
John H. Motley services pending
John Hearn Motley, 80, of Eureka, formerly of Augusta, died this morning at Greenwood County Hospital.
Services are pending at Carlson’s Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Walter J. Jackson dies in Mississippi
Family here reports that J. Jackson, a brother of Jackson of Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 24, at the Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Miss.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

James D. Stevens died Wednesday
James D. Stevens, 52, of Wichita, Boeing Military Airplane Co. employee, brother of Dick Stevens and W.H. Stevens, both of Leon, died Wednesday, Aug. 19.
A rosary will be 8 p.m. Sunday at DeVorss Mortuary in Wichita and a service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Stevens was born March 16, 1935 to Lee and Edna Webb Stevens in Augusta.
On Dec. 9, 1967, he and Catherine DeThample were married in Wichita.
In addition to his brothers in Leon, survivors include: wife, Catherine; sons, Douglas Stevens, James Woods, both of Wichita; daughters, Cecilia Dunkin of Haysville, Rita Reese of Udall, Dell Pelzel of Kailua, Hawaii; brother, Fred of Beaumont, Texas; sisters, Edna Rumsey, Sue Stevens, both of El Dorado, Donna Chrisam of Gulf Port, Miss.; nine grandchildren.

John H. Motley, 80, of Eureka, formerly of Augusta, died yesterday, Aug. 20.
His service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Carlson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Rev. Edward Franklin will officiate and burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Motley was born Feb. 17, 1907 in Motley, Ala.
On May 31, 1926, he and Blossom Rose were married in Burlington.
Motley worked for Mobil Oil Co. for 37 years. He was a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge 74 A.F. & A.M., Elks Club, American Legion, and El Dorado York Rite. He served in the Navy in World War II.
His survivors include: wife, Blossom; sister, Ruth Hudson of Houston; many nieces and nephews.

A. Eldon Baker, 63, of El Dorado, oil field pumper, stepfather of Randy Knox of Augusta, died Saturday, Aug. 22.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns.
Baker was born April 27, 1924 to R.P. and Velma Ratts Baker in Butler County.
On Jan. 6, 1983, he and Marty Wiederstein were married in El Dorado.
In addition to his stepson here, survivors include: wife, Marty; sons, Jerry of Escondido, Calif., Bill of The Dalles, Ore.; stepdaughter, Dwayna Williamson of El Dorado; parents, R.P. and Velma Baker of El Dorado; brothers, Ercel, Ralph, both of El Dorado; sisters, Elnor Nace of Towanda, Diane Giacomo of Tulsa, three grandchildren.
Elbert Holt died Saturday
Elbert Holt, 78, of Douglass, retired farmer, died Saturday, Aug.22.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Douglass. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery. Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield has the arrangements.
Holt was born Dec. 21, 1908 on a farm near Atlanta to John William and Clara Effie Kennedy Holt.
On Nov. 20, 1928, he and Ula V. Hall were married in El Dorado.
Holt’s survivors include: wife, Ula; son, Clarence of Whittier, Calif.; daughter, Luella Logsdon of Douglass; brothers, Aubrey, Wilbur, both of Atlanta, Everett of Harper; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Foundation and the Lupus Foundation.
