George C. Smith died in Colorado
George C. Smith, 67, of Canon City, Colo., father of Dave Smith of Douglass, died Tuesday, Sept.
8.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Holt & Dixon Mortuary and the funeral service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canon City.
In addition to his son in Douglass, survivors include: wife, Ruth A.; son, Larry of Burrton; daughters, Linda Alderdice of Milan, Patty Webb, Mary Babbitt, Teresa Smith, all of Canon City; brother, Tom of Canon City; sisters, Angela Schopf of Canon City, Josephine Flummen of Carbondale, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Charles M. Miller died yesterday
Charles M. Miller, 91, of Valley Center, brother of Ruth Toothman of Augusta, died in the Sedgwick Nursing Home yesterday morning.
There will be no funeral services.
In addition to his sister here, survivors include: wife, Susan; daughter, Jean Mossiman of McMinville, Ore.; son, Jim of Wichita; sister, Clarire Mathewson of Wichita; six grandchildren.

Walter M. Book funeral Saturday
Walter M. Book, 74, of Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Tuesday, Sept. 8.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita.
There are no immediate survivors.
A memorial has been established with University United Methodist Church.

William N. Hayes funeral Saturday
William “Bill” N. Hayes, 84, of Wichita, father of JoAnn McKinney of Augusta, died Wednesday, Sept. 9.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverlawn Christian Church in Wichita. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Rev. Charles Greer will officiate. Resthaven Mortuary has the arrangements.
Hayes was born Feb. 20, 1903 to Dolth H. and Minnie M. Henderson Hayes in Zuric, Kan.
On Oct. 6, 1929, he and Elvira Bassett were married in LaCrosse, Kan.
Hayes was a retired Boeing Military Airplane Co. security employee and stock clerk.
In addition to his daughter here, survivors include: wife, Elvira; sons, Bill F. of Wichita, Robert D. of Mulvane; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Riverlawn Christian Church.

Elmer Becker died Saturday
Elmer Becker, 64, of El Dorado, brother of LaVerne of Leon and Alice Wedel of Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 12.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Walnut Memorial Park and Rev. Hank Demous will officiate.
Becker was born July 4, 1923 to Amos and Amelia Seibrandt Becker in Mound Ridge.
On Jan. 31, 1948, he and Donna Riley were married in Kansas City, Mo.
Becker was a reired Getty Refinery worker and a member of the O.C.A.W. union. Becker served in the Army during World War II.
In addition to a brother in Leon and a sister here, survivors include: wife, Donna; sons, Steven of Camden, N.J., Randall of Manhattan, Vincent of Liberty, Mo., Jeffery of Wichita; daughters, Deborah Lanson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nancy of Port Orchard, Wash., Amy of El Dorado; brothers, Lee Roy of Galva, Donald of McPherson; sisters, Viola Schmidt of Hydro. Okla., Pearl Foth of Torrance, Calif., Ruby Unruh of Hesston, Rosella Unruh of Canton, Faye Nightingale of Fairview, Okla.; seven grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.
