Monday September 21, 1987
Dolores Turner funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at church
Dolores Faye Turner, 64, of Augusta, died yesterday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the First United Methodist Church of Augusta at Sixth & School. Rev. Harold Kieler will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Turner was born Feb. 4, 1923 to Oscar and Grace Rains Larsen in Wellington.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Wichita University and taught at Garfield School here from 1944 to 1951 before leaving the teaching profession to raise her family.
On June 22, 1947, she and Cecil Turner were married in Augusta.
She returned to the teaching profession in 1970 “to help put us through college”, according to her son, and taught English at Augusta High School until her retirement in 1984. She was sponsor of the school’s National Honor Society program before her retirement.
Turner was a member of the United Methodist Church and Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Alpha Phi sororities. She was also active in community theater.
Survivors include: husband, Cecil; son, Craig of Salina; daughters, Deidre Howard of McAlester, Okla., Andrea Turner of Augusta; two grandchildren.
A brother, Johnnie Larsen, and a sister, Juanita Larsen, preceded her in death.
A memorial has been established with the library fund of the First United Methodist Church.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Treva Murphy funeral Thursday
Treva “T.J.” (Wimberly) Murphy, 41, of Augusta, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 1501 State Street. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery and Rev. George Goudie will officiate. Carlson Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Murphy was born Sept. 10,
1946 to Bert and Wanda Pierce Wimberly in El Dorado.
Murphy lived in Augusta for the past 10 years and worked at Lehr’s Restaurant and at A.M.C.I. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Her survivors include: son, Jeffrey of the home; daughter, Janelle Moore of Augusta; parents,
Bert and Wanda Winberly of Leon; sister, Arlene Taylor of Evanston, Wyo.; grandmother,
Iva Wimberly Williams of El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church.

Otis Cook died yesterday
Otis Cook, 65, Wichita, a retired farmer, brother of Don of Augusta, died yesterday.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery and Rev. Jack Ledbetter will officiate.
Cook was born Jan. 24, 1922 to Samuel H. and Pansy B. Rushing Cook in Seymour, Mo.
In addition to his brother here, survivors include: daughter, Veleta R. Oldfield, mother, Pansy B., both of Wichita; sisters, Birtlee Miller, Leota Keeler, Lena Smith, Lela, all of Wichita, Leona Wells of Viola, Norma Sindley of Towanda.
A memorial has been established with the Oncology Department of Hertzler Clinic in Halstead.

Evelyn M. Miller, 70, Wichita, homemaker, sister of Woodrow White of Douglass, died Sunday, Sept. 20.
Her graveside service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Pastor John F. Davey will officiate. Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita has the arrangements.
Miller was born Oct. 6, 1916 to Oscar and Clarissa Wall White in Sulphur Springs, Ark.
In addition to her brother in Douglass, survivors include: daughters, Shirley Hunt, Mildred R. Breedlove, both of Wichita; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marion R. Miller.
