Vera I. Sapp funeral Saturday
Vera I. Sapp, 80, of Augusta, died Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, 1600 State Street. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery and Rev. Jon Grissom will officiate. Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Sapp was born March 23, 1907 in Illinois.
On June 25, 1924, she and Ralph Clarence Sapp were married in Wichita. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Sapp was a seamstress and interior decorator. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Loyal Breams Class.
Her survivors include: sons, Bill of Lumberton, N.C., Bob of Salt Lake City, Dick of Hesperia, Calif.; half brother, Fred Crowell, half sister, Mrs. Wells, both of Pomona, Calif.; eight grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.

J.B. ‘Jake’ Scroggin died Thursday
J.B. “Jake” Scroggin, 60, of Augusta, owner of Jake Scroggin Construciton Co., died Thursday, Sept. 24.
His funeral service was 2 p.m. today at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Burial was in Wichita Park Cemetery. Rev. John Blue and Rev. John White officiated.
Scroggin was born Nov. 4, 1926 to James and Ethel Scroggin in Kiowa, Okla.
On April 6, 1947, he and Darlene Walker were married in Ponca City, Okla.
His survivors include: wife, Darlene; son, Terry D. of Mulvane; daughters, Cindy Malone of Derby, Jill of Dallas; mother, Ethel of Guthrie, Okla.; brothers, Eugene of Walsenburg, Colo., Nolen of Norman, Okla.; sisters, Ollie Mae Shelton of Fairfield Bay, Ark., Dorine DuPree of Hardy, Ark., Josephine Conley of Edmond, Okla; five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Frances Hoffman died yesterday
Frances M. Hoffman, 62, sister of Richard Kaps of Augusta, died yesterday at her home in Russell.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Pullman Mortuary in Russell has the arrangements.
Hoffman was born Feb. 15, 1925 to Carl W. and Margaret Mahoney Kaps in Bunker Hill, Kan.
On Oct. 5, 1947, she and Norman A. Hoffman were married in Russell.
Hoffman had been choir director at St. John Lutheran Church for several years. She was a member of the VFW Auxilliary in Russell and helped sponsor the Zeta Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
In addition to her brother here, survivors include: husband, Norman; son, Dennis of Lawrence; daughters, Kaye Dietz of Topeka, Lisa Beedy of Hayes; mother, Margaret Kaps of Russell; brothers, Robert Kaps of Lenexa, Larry Kaps of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Ruth Meharge of Hoisington; five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with St. John Lutheran Church.

Bob Dick Moreland died in Wichita
Bob Dick Moreland, 36, of Derby, a welder, died Sunday
at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
His graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Moreland was born Aug. 22 1951 to Agadine E. (Kennedy) and Roy M. Moreland, Sr in El Dorado.
His survivors include: brother, Roy, Jr of Winfield; sisters, Sherrill Davis of Derby, Cynthia Curtis of Fort Worth; mother, Agadine Kirby of Old Ocean, Texas.

August Seymour died in Dodge City
August “Sparky” Seymour, 81, of Dodge City, died yesterday.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Seymour was born Nov. 15, 1905 to Fredrick Edward and Otllia Dietrich Seymour at El Dorado.
On July 1, 1933, he and Emma Buell were married in Wichita.
Seymour was a retired field representative for Skaggs Motors and a member of the Church of Christ and the Golden Heirs.
His survivors include: wife, Emma; sons, Richard “Sherman” of Topeka; brother, Edward of Newton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in his name to the Carribean Christian College, in care of the Church of Christ.

Hulda Stuckey funeral tomorrow
Hulda Emilie (Buerki) Stuckey, 88, of Augusta, died Friday, Sept. 25 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in Oatville, Kan. Rev. Harold Kieler will officiate and Dunsford Funeral Home has the arrangements. Friends may view at the funeral home until 9 p.m. tonight.
Stuckey was born June 7, 1899 to Fred and Martha Schirmer Buerki near Whitewater.
On Oct. 24, 1924, she and John U. Stuckey were married in Wichita. He preceded her in death in 1962.
Stuckey was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Her survivors include: son, John of Hansvill, Wash.; daughter, Bettie Slade of Augusta; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church.
