Services pending for Gerald Moody
Services are pending for Gerald R. Moody, 65, of rural Augusta.
Moody died last night at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.

Robert Carroll died Thursday
Robert Carroll, 67, of Wichita, father of Winthrop B. Smith of Augusta, died Thursday, Oct. 1.
His funeral service was 2:30 p.m. today at University Congregational Church in Wichita. Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary has the arrangements.
Carroll was born March 22, 1920 to Benjamin Robert and Johnnie Mae (Davis) Carroll in Hamlet, N.C.
Carroll was a trustee of the Mid-America All-Indian Center, a newsman, producer of documentaries and public service programs. He worked with Boy Scouts and was board chairman at KPTS-TV for the last two years.
His wife Katharine preceded him in death March 30, 1982.
In addition to his son here, survivors include: son, Christopher Smith of Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughters, Elizabeth Lee of Goshen, N.Y., Judy Showalter of Winfield; brother, Jack Pinkney Carroll Sr. of Hamlet, N.C.
Memorials have been established with the Hospice of Wichita, Mother Mary Anne Foundation, in care of St. Joseph Medical Center, and the Robert Carroll Scholarship Fund, in care of the Mid-America All-Indian Center.

Patricia Calvin funeral Wednesday
Patricia A. Calvin, 53, of rural Latham, died yesterday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Latham Christian Church. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery and Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield has the arrangements. Friends may visit the chapel after 9 a.m. tomorrow.
Calvin was born Aug. 2, 1934 to Roy and Rachel (Hada) Province on a farm near Alva, Okla.
On Feb. 6, 1953, she and Warren “Windy” Calvin were married in Bentonville, Ark. They both worked for Young and Cooper Cattle Co. Ranch for 29 years.
Her survivors include: husband, Warren; sons, Warren, Jr., Randall, Ronald, all of Latham; daughter, Linda Easum of El Dorado; mother of Rachel Province of Towanda; brother, Eldon Province of Belle Plain; sister, Joyce Finley of Latham; four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Tuesday, October 6, 1987 Gerald Ray Moody funeral Thursday
Gerald Ray Moody, 65, of Augusta, retired Boeing Military Airplane Co. tool and die maker, died Sunday, Oct. 4.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Douglass. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery and Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate.
Moody was born June 6, 1922 to Herman and Ada Moody in Mountain View, Ark.
On March 3, 1946, he and Marjorie Glaze were married in Douglass.
His survivors include: wife, Marjorie; son, Gary of Douglass; parents, Herman and Ada of Mountain View.
Memorials have been established with the American Lung Association and United Methodist Church.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass has the arrangements.

Dr. N.H. Overholser funeral tomorrow
Dr. Norman H. Overholser, 71, of El Dorado, retired family physician, died Sunday, Oct. 4.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at First United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Carlson Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Dr. Overholser was born Aug. 17, 1916 to Harry and Bessie Darlington Overholser in Calhoun, Mo.
He graduated from El Dorado Senior High School in 1932 and received his medical degree in 1940 from the University of Kansas.
On July 29, 1941, he and Arlena Barber of Caney were married.
In 1945, Dr. Overholser started practicing medicine in El Dorado. During his medical career in El Dorado, Dr. Overholser delivered about 3,500 babies.
His survivors include: wife, Arlena; son, Tom of Wichita, daughters, Kathleen Hori of El Dorado, Mary Elizabeth Falter of Hutchinson; mother, Bessie “Elizabeth” Overholser of El Dorado; sister, Sybellee Manning of Champaign, Ill.; three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Butler County Community College pre-medical scholarships.
