Dorothy Johnson died in Oregon
Dorothy E. Johnson, 66, of Hillsboro, Ore., sister of Phil Ball and Mella Nuttle, both of Augusta, died Sept. 25 in Good Samaritan Hospital.
Her funeral services were Sept.
30 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Rev. James Airey officiated the services and burial was in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home in Hillsboro had the arrangements.
Johnson was born April 23, 1921 to Pleas and Maud Baldwin Ball Grant in Prospect, Kan.
On Sept. 9, 1945, she married Alvin M. Johnson of Augusta. He preceded her in death March 17, 1987.
In addition to her brother and sister here, survivors include: sons, Stephen, Stanley, both of Vancouver, Wash., Douglas of Hillsboro; daughter, Sandra Rhodes of Antioch, Calif.; brother, George Ball of El Dorado; sisters, Helen Carlson of Wichita, Elizabeth Brown of Lincoln, Neb.; six grandchildren.
Johnson was also preceded in death by her brother Clarence Ball of El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Grandfather dies at 100 in Douglass
Leon Courtney, 100, of Winfield, grandfather of Darla Harper, Augusta, died Tuesday at the Medicalodge Nursing Home, Douglass.
The funeral service will be held at graveside 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Mulvane Cemetery.
Courtney, a retired rancher, was born April 18, 1887 to James and Nancy Farmer Courtney, in Nashville, Ill.
He married Gertrude Nickell, March 24, 1910 in Beaver County, Okla. She preceded him in death in 1984. A son, Harold, also preceded him in death in 1982.
He is survived by Harper and another granddaughter, Judy Steinle, Winfield. Other survivors included eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The Center-Smith Mortuary, Mulvane has the arrangements.

Augustan’s sister died in Canton
Madalyn S. Weinmeister, 78, of Canton, retired restaurant cook, sister of Florence “Kitty” Thornton of Augusta, died yesterday.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Canton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery and Rev. Mark Anderson will officiate. Olson Mortuary has the arrangements.
Weinmeister was born March 19, 1909 to Fred and Nancy Osborn Hedinger in Canton.
On Sept. 16, 1944, she and Henry Weinmeister were married in Salina. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1965.
In addition to her sister here, survivors include: daughter, Georgalyn Allwine of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Charles “Jack” Hedinger of Pueblo West, Colo.; two grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Canton American Legion Auxiliary and the Canton Senior Center.
Gerard Baker services held
Gerard Allen Baker, one-month-old son of Barry and Andrea Baker of Wichita, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Baker of Augusta, died yesterday.
The funeral service has been held. De Vorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary had the arrangements.
In addition to his grandparents here, survivors include: sister, Elizabeth A. at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Nelson, all of Wichita; great-grandparents, Lloyd Higbee of Derby, Marie of Wichita.

Iva W. Williams funeral tomorrow
Iva Wimberly Williams, 90, of El Dorado, homemaker, mother of Bert Wimberly and Donna Maclean Furr, both of Leon, died Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. tomorrow at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery and Rev. John Williams will officiate.
Williams was born June 2, 1897 to John Harry and Minerva Ann McClurg Wilson in Dallas County, Mo.
On Jan. 17, 1915, she and Harry Wimberly were married in Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1958.
On April 1, 1971, she and Floyd Williams were married in Harper, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1979.
In addition to her son and daughter in Leon, survivors include: son, Ralph “Mike” Wimberly of Burns; daughters, Velma Mossman of ElDorado, Dolly Chandler of Wichita, Georgia Kennedy of Tahlequah, Okla.; brothers, Hubert Wilson of Buffalo, Mo., Bert Wilson of Monett, Mo., Otto Wilson of El Dorado; sisters, Fannie Maddux, Fronia Maddox, both of El Dorado; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
Former Augustan died in Missouri
A private service was held yesterday for James Gillen of Joplin, Mo., a former Augustan, who died Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Parker Funeral Home in Joplin had the arrangments.
His survivors include: wife, Nadine, of the home; sons, Vincent, Steve, addresses unknown; daughter, name and address unknown.
