Clarence Fredrick died yesterday
Clarence M. Fredrick, 70, of Augusta, died yesterday in Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.
His graveside service will be 2 p.m. in Kuster Cemtery. Rev. Delmer Becker will officiate. Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta has the arrangments.
Fredrick was born Aug. 5, 1917 in Deer Creek, Okla.
On Aug. 13, 1953, he and Dona
Fay Weyl were married in Rogers, Ark. She preceded him in death May 2, 1987.
Fredrick was a retired carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union 210 and the American Legion Legion. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean conflict.
His survivors include: son, Robert H. Johnson of Augusta; daughters, Sharon Harrison of Neosho, Mo., Diana Bush of Hutchinson, Kathlene McElroy of Augusta; brothers, Art of Blackwell, Okla., Carl of Sunnyvale, Calif.; sister, Rose Dice of Blackwell, Okla; five grandchildren.

Sallie Lange service today
Sallie H. Lange, 92, of Salina, homemaker, sister of AuDeen Lichlyter of Augusta, died Friday.
Her funeral service was 2 p.m. today at Lamb Mortuary in Whitewater. Burial was in McGill Cemetery south of Potwin and Rev. Rick McNary officiated.
Lange was born March 8, 1895 to James H. and Ida L. Snorf Adams in Whitewater.
On Dec. 4, 1912, she and James Harrison Lange were married in Potwin. He preceded her in death.
In addition to her sister here, survivors include: son, Harry of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Potwin Christian Church.

David I. Smith died in Andover
David I. Smith, 80, died Friday, Oct. 30, at the Andover Health Care Center.
A graveside burial service was conducted this morning at the Douglass Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 5, 1906 on a farm near Rising Sun, Ind., as a son of James T. and Bessie Forwood Smith.
The family relocated to Kansas when he was four years old. He attended schools at Fort Scott and Douglass and graduated from Douglass High School in 1926.
After attending college in Oklahoma, Smith got into the oilfield trucking business.
He married Zelma C. Cline on Feb. 9, 1931 at the Butler County courthouse in El Dorado. She survives.
In 1941, Smith started working for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash. He served with the army during World War II and got a job at Beech Aircraft in Wichita when he got out of the service.
He and Zelma moved to Douglass in 1954 and he worked for the alfalfa mill there until he retired in the 1960s.
Smith was a member of the Douglass Baptist Church and affiliated with American Legion Post 202 there.
In addition to his wife of the home, Smith left one nephew, and one cousin.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
The Miles Memorial Chapel of Winfield was in charge of services.

Arthur Peterson service yesterday
Arthur E. Peterson, 89, Udall, died Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Riverview Manor nursing home in Oxford.
His funeral service was yesterday afternoon at the Udall Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in the Udall cemetery.
Peterson was born April 2, 1898 on a farm northwest of Udall — a farmstead where he spent most of his life. He was educated in a country school near Udall.
On Nov. 27, 1,921, he and the former Grace L. Sweet were united in marriage at the Cowley County courthouse in Winfield.
He worked as a tool and die maker at Boeing Military Aircraft during World War II. He moved to Udall in 1964.
In addition to his wife of the home, he leaves a son, Marvin of Bethany, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the Udall Church of the Nazarene are suggested.
The Miles Memorial Chapel at Winfield had charge of the arrangements.

Augustan’s sister died in Salina
Golda D. Wicks, 84, of Salina, sister of Ed Souder of Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 30.
Her funeral service was 2 p.m. today at Geisendorf-Rush Smith Funeral Home in Salina. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park and Dr. D. Wayne Montgomery officiated.
Wicks was born Aug. 15, 1903 to Edgar E. and Lydia Naugle Souder in Ozark County, Mo.
On Nov. 29, 1937, she and Roy Wicks were married in Concordia, Kan.
Wicks was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church, and the Salina Indoor Garden Club.
In addition to her brother here, survivors include: husband, Roy; son, Lee Roy of Boulder, Colo.; brother, George Souder of Salina; sisters, Ola Merrifield of Lawrence, Maud Budge of St. John, Daphnia Brown of Anaheim, Calif., Doris Gros at home; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with First Christian Church.
