Paul Christian funeral tomorrow
Paul Christian, 70, of Andover, former Chris-King Sales and Service Co. co-owner and former Cardwell Manufacturing Co. shop foreman, died Monday, Nov. 9.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
Christian was born Feb. 16, 1917 to Milford and Alta Chaney Christian in Oklahoma.
His survivors include: wife, Helen; son, Dick of Andover; daughter, Sharon Webster of Wichita; four gandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church in Augusta.

Former Augustan died yesterday
Alice C. Lundquist Baum, 91, of Dexter, former Augusta resident, died yesterday at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery and the Rev. Orvan Gilstap will officiate.
Baum was born March 27, 1896 to John and Caroline Lundquist in Fort Scott.
On March 1, 1920, she and Erna H. Baum were married in Augusta. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1970.
Baum was a secretary for Bridgeport Oil Co. in Augusta for several years. She was a member of the Dexter Christian Church and active in Dexter community affairs.
Her survivors include: daughters, Miriam Wilson of Dexter, Cartha VonBusch of Winfield, Carol Lindberg of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Dexter Christian Church.

Cecil C. De Fore died Wednesday
Cecil C. DeFore, 75, Winfield, died Wednesday at the Arkansas City Medicalodge.
A funeral service for this retired Douglass-Winfield area farmer-rancher will be 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery there.
DeFore was born Feb. 11, 1912 on a farm near Douglass as a son of Dan and Chloie Bannon DeFore.
He was educated at schools in Douglass, Burden, and Udall.
During World War II he served as a medical aide with the army.
On Feb. 28, 1944, DeFore and the former Thelma P. Houser were married at Newkirk, Okla.
She survives.
In addition to farming and ranching interests, DeFore owned and operated several eateries in Cowley County including the Castle Rock Restaurant at Winfield and the restaurant at Strother Field.
He was a former member of the American Legion, Elks and the Dexter school board.
In addition to his wife of the home, he leaves a son, Dan C. DeFore of Winfield; five daughters, Donna Storey and Cleta Porter of Winfield, Janie Ketchum of Udall, Glenda Lane of Valencia, Calif., and Debbie Anschutz of Orange, Calif.; three stepsons; a stepdaughter, two brothers, a stepmother, 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to Cowley County Hospice Inc. have been suggested.

Erma B. Cook funeral Saturday
Erma B. Cook, 79, mother of Elaine Calvert of Augusta, died Tuesday at Augusta Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Winfield. Burial will be in Wilmot Cemetery. Swisher-Taylor and Morris Funeral Home has the arrangements.
Cook was born Nov. 8, 1908 to Henry and Elizabeth Bowen Eastman near Wilmot.
In 1929, she and Elmer Floyd Cook were married in Newkirk,
Okla. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1947.
Cook was a member of the First Christian Church, Foster Grandparents Association and Eastern Star.
In addition to her daughter here, survivors include: son, Lawrence of Craig, Colo.; daughter, Norma Corder of El Dorado; brothers, Leo Eastman,
Cecil Eastman, both of Winfield; sisters, Dorothy Young of Winfield, Hilda Stewart of Wichita, Ruby Latimer of De Soto, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Augusta Longterm Health Care Center.

George Harpool Jr. funeral tomorrow
George A. Harpool Jr., 71, of Wichita, retired Harpool Brothers owner, son of George A. Sr. of Douglass, died Wednesday, Nov. 11.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery. The Rev. Robert J. Moser and the Rev. George W. Hoglan will officiate.
Harpool was born Dec. 5, 1915 to George and Helen Marie Kootz Harpool in Springfield, Mo.
On Dec. 31, 1934, he and Maxine C. Higganbotham were married in Wichita.
In addition to his father in Douglass, survivors include: wife, Maxine; son, George A. III of Wichita; daughters, Judy Klock of Wichita, Joann Edwards of Brownsville, Ore; brother, Don of Wichita; four grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
