Laura E. Cox died today
Laura Ellen Cox, 85, of Augusta, died today at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thuyrsday at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery and the Rev. Harold Kieler will officiate.
Cox was born June 23, 1902, to Asa and Emma Deyser Adair.
She and Walter Mildren Cox were married May 19, 1926 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Cox belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star, Augusta Medical Complex Auxiliary, 20th Century Club, and the United Methodist Church.
She leaves two sons, John William Cox of Houston, Texas, and Gerald Bruce Cox of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Caroline May Shaw of Grantsville, Utah; a sister, Ruth Adair Dyer of Lawrence, and eight grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Hugh Adair Cox.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Augusta are suggested.

Augustan’s sister dies in Hutchinson
Katherine Blake, 80, of Hutchinson, sister of Lola Porter of Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 20.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
Blake was born Jan. 28, 1907, to William Patrick and Ella Margaret Thomas Sughrue in Winslow, Ariz.
She was united in marriage to Floyd A. Blake on Oct. 25, 1924, in Wichita.
Blake, a homemaker, attended the First Baptist Church in Hutchinson.
In addition to Blake, her survivors include: brothers, Leo Sughrue of Salem, Ore., Clarence Sughrue of Benton, Ark.; sister, Dorothy Hartenberger of Newton.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Leon woman’s sister dies at 81
Faye N. Stegelman, 81, of Owasso, Okla., sister of Alice Steele of Leon, died Friday, Dec. 18.
Her funeral service was this afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Grenola.
Stegelman was born April 26, 1906, to Fred and Nettie Keller Clark in Westphalia.
On Aug. 24, 1926, she and Garrett C. Stegelman were married in Sedan.
Stegelman previously taught in the Elk County school system and worked as a psychiatric aide for the Winfield State Hospital. She was a member of the Grenola United Methodist Church and the Moline Alumni Association.
In addition to Steele, other survivors include: husband, Garrett; son, Jack of Catoosa, Okla.; daughter, Rita Rush of Lake Havusu City, Ariz.; brothers, Roy Clark of Bella Vista, Calif., Albert Clark of LaPine, Ore.; sister, Nell Bruner of Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren.

Edna Terrill funeral service on Tuesday
Edna Terrill, 85, Douglass, died Thursday, Dec. 17, at the St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 22, at the United Methodist Church in Douglass. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Winfield.
She was born Sept. 13, 1902 on a farm west of Burden as a daughter of John and Kate Ring.
She was educated in Burden schools and graduated in 1920 from Burden High School. She attended and received her teaching degree from Southwestern College at Winfield.
On July 29, 1929, she and Newton E. Terrill were united in marriage at Burden. He preceded her in death March 18, 1945.
Mrs. Terrill taught in Burden and Douglass schools. Following retirement from teaching, she was librarian at the Copeland Memorial Library in Douglass.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, affiliated with the Burden chapter of Order of Eastern Star, and was a past vice president of the Semper Fidelis Club in Douglass.
Survivors include a brother, Boyd Ring of Winfield, a sister, Grace Barkalow of Broken Arrow, Okla., and two grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
Memorials have been established with the Copeland Memorial Library and the American Diabetes Association.
The Miles Memorial Chapel at Winfield is in charge of funeral arrangements.
