Dies in Arizona
I.E. “Earl” Parry, formerly of Douglass, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 30, 1898, in Douglass.
Parry is survived by several nieces and nephews including Kenneth Parry of Augusta, Marjorie Helm and Donna Smith of Towanda.
Services are pending.

Memorial service tomorrow for Kirby
Oll Kirby, 73, Latham, father of Lois Highbarger of Leon, died Tuesday, Dec. 29 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery. Rev. Art Wilson will officiate the service.
Kirby was born April 16, 1914, in Mammoth Springs, Ark. to Ewing and Alice Owens Kirby.
He married Frances Smading in Nevada, Mo. on Sept. 13, 1933. She survives of the home.
Kirby grew up in the Latham-Beaumont-Wichita area. He worked as a painter for over 40 years.
Other survivors include: sons, Gene of Oklahoma City, Okla., Stan of Wichita; brothers, Val of Strawberry, Ark., Roy of Nevada, Mo., John of Austin, Tex., Odell of Hermitage, Mo.; sisters, Charlotte Earnest and Dorothy Warren of Nevada, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Lois M. Shuler dies in Colorado
Lois Marshall Shuler, 87, former Leon resident, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1987 in Fort Collins, Colo.
A memorial service is scheduled for today at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita. Burial will be in the Leon cemetery.
Shuler was born Feb. 19, 1900, to John and Belle Waldorf Marshall in Leon.
On June 8, 1932, she married the Rev. William E. Shuler in Leon.
Shuler, a graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield, taught music and mathematics in the Burns and Leon school systems prior to her marriage.
Survivors include: son, Craig of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Janice Sneller of Neosho, Mo.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
A memorial has been established with Southwestern College in Winfield.
Motel operator dies at 73
Ruth Dessa Carder, 73, of El Dorado, sister of Mildred Bare of Douglass, died Friday, Jan. 1, at Susan B. Anthony Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
A memorial service and burial were Sunday at the Douglass Cemetery in Douglass. The Rev. Dale Valentine of the Douglass Christian Church officiated.
Carder was born July 14, 1914, to John and Lilly Albin Maxwell in rural Douglass.
She married Ralph Carder in 1960 in Douglass. He survives.
Carder lived most of her life in the Douglass area. She was the owner and operator of the 54 Motel in El Dorado. She also was a member of the Congregational Church.
Other survivors include: sister, Mildred Bare of Douglass; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass City Library.

Leota Frances Stewart, 84, of Augusta, died Saturday, Jan. 2, at Augusta Medical Complex.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery. Rev. Bill Buggelin will officiate.
Stewart was born Mar. 6, 1903, to John and Jennie Florence McKee Kenney in Oswego.
On Feb. 9, 1924, she married Cyril Emerson Stewart in Haverhill. He survives.
Stewart, a housewife, was a member of the Church of Christ in Augusta.
Other survivors include: sons, Paul Richard Stewart of Douglass, Cyril Emerson Stewart, Jr. of Garden City; daughters, Barbara Lucille Williams of Ontario, Calif., Mary Florence Meeker of Augusta, Mattie Evelyn Mosely of Pomona, Calif.; brothers, Kenneth Kelly Kenney of Tulsa, Okla., Russel Kenney of Arkansas City; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Raiguel service held earlier today
Walter Gail Raiguel, 78, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 1, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
A service for Raiguel was held earlier today at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Rev. Ray Gilstrap officiated the service.
Raiguel was born Dec. 4,1909, in Newberne W. Va., to Arthur John and Ada Lavina Wagoner Raiguel.
He married Ruby V. Henderson on July 20, 1930, in El Dorado.
Raiguel, a retired oil field pumper and member of the First Baptist Church, leaves two sisters, Vineta Marker of Ellinwood and Elaine Beneke of Newbury Park, Calif.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church of Augusta.
