Thursday, January 7, 1988
Atlanta resident died Wednesday
Pauline N. Bostic, 72, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Rev. Randy Lynch will officiate the service.
Bostic was born March 17, 1915, in Mena, Ark. to Lester and Ida A. Kendall Pitts.
On Oct. 28, 1944, she married Richard Bostic in Winfield. He survives of the home.
Bostic moved to Butler County as a young girl. Most of her schooling was in Oxford. She and her husband operated the Ranch Lunch Cafe of Winfield in 1951-52. They also operated the Atlanta Cafe from 1969-1979. Bostic was a member of the Lansing Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a stepdaughter, Mary Rogers of Atlanta; brothers, J.E. Pitts of Garnett, Leo Pitts of Missouri; sisters, Elaine Massengill and Patricia Winfrey of Garnett; several foster grandchildren; four nephews; three nieces.
A memorial has been estab-
lished with the American Lung Association.

Friday funeral for Osa Travis
Ninety-two-year-old Osa Travis died Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Facility.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Jan. 8, at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elwmood Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 1, 1895 ato Jacob and Lenella Brenner.
Survivors include a son, Raymond Travis of Shell Knob, Mo.; a sister, Thelma Lehr of Augusta; two grandsons, Gary Travis of Arkansas City, and Jim Travis of Wichita, and eight great-grandchildren.
Travis was a longtime employee of Lehr’s Restaurant. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church here. Memorials to the church have been suggested.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Flossie Taylor.

El Dorado man died Thursday
Ralph E. Carder, 80, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Jan. 7, at his home.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. Dale Valentine will officiate.
Carder was born Nov. 21, 1907, to James and Katie Sickmon Carder in Arlington.
He married Ruth Maxwell in rural Douglass in 1960. She preceded him in death within the past two weeks.
Carder attended Sterling College. He and his wife owned and operated the 54 Motel in El Dorado.
Surviving members of his family include three nieces.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass City Library.

Bare funeral Monday morning
Paul Bare, 90, of Douglass, died Thursday, Jan. 7, in Winfield.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery.
Bare was born Nov. 6, 1897, to Luther M. and Bertha Bally Bare on a farm near Douglass.
On Oct. 8, 1937, he married Gladys T. King in Douglass. She preceded him in death within the past week.
Bare was employed by the White Eagle Refinery as a quality controls technician until his retirement in 1962. He earlier owned the Bare Insurance Agency. He was a member of the Douglass United Methodist Church.
He leaves a son, Jim of Chadds Ford, Pa.; sister, Marjorie L. Bare of Douglass; two grandsons.
Memorials to the organ fund of the Douglass United Methodist Church.

Leo P. Lenertz funeral today
Leo P. Lenertz, 67, Wichita, brother of John Lenertz and Emma Leavitt, both of Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Green Meadows nursing home in Haysville.
His funeral service was 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita and burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Rev. Kenneth Studtmann of the Bethany Lutheran Church officiated.
Lenertz was born Feb. 17, 1920 at Wilmore as a son of Charles Edward and Louise Sutter Lenertz.
He was married March 21, 1952.
In addition to the brother and sister here, Lenertz leaves his wife, Edith, of the home; a son, Roger of Wichita; a daughter, M. Jeannie EuBanks of Wichita; brothers Charles of Coldwater and Philip of Andover; another sister, Mary Stull of Wichita, and two grandchildren.
